dsc106 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 The Kiowa from Polychop launched with lackluster sounds and they were able to contract Echo 19. Would love to see better sounds on this module as they currently lacking and I believe it would significantly improve the experience! 5 1 VR Exclusive (5950x/4090/G2) | All DLC | Buttkicker + HF8 | Virpil Everything w/MFG Crosswinds
Mistermann Posted June 22 Posted June 22 100% Please consider this. Razgriz10 Posted June 24 Posted June 24 (edited) Please, the current sounds are quite lackluster. Even if you don't want to pair with E19 for some reason, please work on the sounds. Edited June 24 by Razgriz10 2 1
Erlkönig Posted June 24 Posted June 24 +1, especially above 2000 RPM there seems no audible change in pitch until max RPM, which makes flying by ear very hard. All in all the engine sound lacks beefiness. 1 1

Would love to hear them sound more beefy, more gnarly. I've been up close to F4U's and P47's on startup at various airshows, it certainly is missing that beefiness and depth. It's too bad there seems to be a bit of friction between Tyler E19 and the M3 team, would've loved to have his work in the module. 2
Saxman Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Forget about the engine, I want my oil cooler scream. You can't call it Whistling Death if there's no death whistle. 2
_Hoss Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Nothing about it sounds like this, engine or whistle... 3 Sempre Fortis

I don’t know where the friction would be, I’m open to working with them if they choose. I have picked up, perhaps some frustration based on limited responses, but… I could be wrong! 2 - - - - - - - - Tyler "Shadow" All things sound @ Echo 19 Audio linktr.ee/echo19audio

I think most of the DCS Corsair customers would agree the sound design is off and could use the E19 treatment. And it isn't to bash M3 for the work they've done, it ain't perfect but it's not god awful either, but there is a lot of room for improvement. 1

Based on how m3 responded in the main f4u folder to my inquiry there, I'd suggest they feel the "professional recordings" they have are adequate and only need some gain and volume tweaks to properly represent the Corsair. They also seemed a little chippy about having to pay for sound engineering experts. At least that's how I interpreted the response. 1 System Specs: Spoiler Callsign:Kandy Processor:13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K - RAM: 64GB - Video Card: NVIDIA RTX 4090 - Display: Pimax 8kx VR Headset - Accessories: VKB Gunfighter III MCG Ultimate, VKB STECS Standard, Thrustmaster TPR Pedals, Simshaker JetPad, Predator HOTAS Mounts, 3D Printed Flight Button Box Video Capture Software: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), Video Editing Software: PowerDirector 35 Into The Jungle (MP Mission) F18: Scorpion's Sting Apache Campaign - Griffins Kiowa Campaign - Assassins
peachmonkey Posted July 3 Posted July 3 (edited) The reason I switched from IL2 to DCS and stayed with DCS all these years is the sound design. No other flight sim compares to ED's in the sound department. But it pains me to finally realize that ED's standards for developing a high fidelity sound engine only applies to ED's developed aircraft. Corsair is a second ww2 module developed by a 3rd party (first being I-16), and it's just as disappointing as I-16. "Professional recording" can mean a lot of things, including a single microphone/placement recording for the whole AC. That's what we got, and it sucks donkey balls. If the upcoming La-7 features a similar gutless sound implementation then ED and the 3rd party developers will lose a customer of the 3rd party prop modules. It's just sad. edit: the least ED can do here is allow the modders to modify the engine sounds like it was possible before everything got encrypted. Edited July 3 by peachmonkey 1 1
Art-J Posted July 6 Posted July 6 New undocumented sound tweaks introduced in latest patch are a nice surprise and noticeable and welcomed improvement already. They're not that far off from Thunderbolt ones now. I think the external sounds @ low RPM should be somewhat quiter though (and/or mid/high RPMs could be louder?). In tutorial missions on the ground it's a bit difficult to hear instructor when AIs are starting up and taxiing around, I also think I should NOT hear AI Corsairs taxiing when I'm zooming over their airbase at 500+ ft . Mind you, that applies to having "hear like in helmet" option turned off. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Art-J Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I was strictly referring to them not being mentioned in patch notes (albeit patch notes being incomplete even for ED products, let alone 3rd party ones, are a common thing in DCS ) 3 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
