Ebodee Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I understand, considering the current political climate, that the DCS:BS Theater of Conflict surrounds the tension between Russia, Georgia, and the Insurgent problem Russia faces as Georgia struggles to assert its' independence. However, why was the former Theater of Conflict in Lock-on: The Ukranian and Russian conflict surrounding the Crimean peninsula, albeit ficticious, excluded from DCS:BS? I do prefer a realistic political climate as the backdrop to mission and campaign development over fictitious but why not a mixture of the two? Or was it the intent of ED to separate itself from Lock-on entirely? Will the users of DCS:BS see an expansion of the current geo-political map beyond the Black Sea coastal region?
nemises Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 engine limitation.. The amount of extra detail on the area now used meant a need to reduce the amount of detail in some areas...ED made the decision to have a smaller more detailed map, rather than the larger less detailed one in Lomac.
VMFA117_Poko Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hopefully things will change with a new engine - in DCS: AH-64A Apache maybe?

Nate--IRL-- Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 IIRC it is a limitation of 32bit address space. ED have expressed the desire to switch to 64bit sooner rather than later (so about 2015 then :) ). Nate 2 Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
