Rolds Posted July 10 Posted July 10 The feel, the visual model, the features, this one is special. I think the Corsair is the best warbird yet to be released for DCS! Amazing work magnitude! 8

Bluecat Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Yeah I had read the stories about the flight model and was worried. But I made my first flight earlier today and I thought it flew pretty well. Granted, I did take the advice of some who said to set the axis curves ~20' or so. The plane felt heavy enough and authentic enough for me. And maybe because I had read that thread I was more prepared to adjust my control surfaces whenever I made a change in the power setting. 2

Y'all are tempting me to set up my flying gear again and try the Corsair. If there were any prospect of other Warbirds being modeled in this fashion, I would do it. Maybe in a decade or two, if I am still alive and sentient. 1
Wing Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Its a great WW2 module. My only gripe, is the audio quality needs improvements. 2 www.v303rdFighterGroup.com | v303 FG Discord
Qcumber Posted July 11 Posted July 11 After several hours of flying it is definitely a good warbird. I will hold judgement regarding "the best" for now as that can be judged in many different ways. The cockpit looks great. Better than the early warbirds and in a par with the P-47 and Mosquito. Performance is noticeably worse than other warbirds (by about 10-20%). It is quite straightforward to fly, although there are some weird issues with ground handling that is likely a bug. However, personal preference has to come in to play too. I have a lot more experience with the 109 and love the way it handles in combat. It is very simple and intuitive. Same for the P-51 and to a lesser extent the Spitfire. I need a lot more flying time with the F4U to see if this is a warbird that I enjoy flying. I am quite optimistic though. 3 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Jef Costello Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Sorry but I don't share your point of view for one reason, the sound of the engine is terrible and doesn't sound at all like the PW 2800 of a Corsair. For me this kills totally imersion! When I'll see huge improvement I'll buy it but for now I stay with the P-47. Regards 1

There's definitely some issues with the flight model, which may get some fixes in the next patch. She seems to be a bit draggier than she ought to be, and ADI may not be working properly, which robs you of about 250hp (I've never seen MAP consistently hit the 60in you're supposed to get on WEP).

I've heard a Corsair start up and fly but I've never sat in a cockpit. I imagine it should sound a lot more gutteral. Hopefully that will improve. To be honest I find the P-47 a bit disappointing with sound. MiG21bisFishbedL Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago The sound is a step up from the Fishbed and CEII, at least. Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
