algherghezghez Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) I first noticed this playing the last missions of artic thunder, while flying in the huge formation, so I have not tested yet if this happens as well with single airplanes, but I get not wake turbulence flying under other planes, while I get huge turbulence flying slightly above them, which makes no sense... wakes are supposed to expand and descend... razo+r Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) Now this is a really vague description. How much above were you? How much below were you? Do you have a short and simple track? Wakes are not just below the wing. They grow also a bit above and then descent. Edited July 11 by razo+r
algherghezghez Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 (edited) I don't have the DCS track but i do have the Tacview track (which is too big to upload here). Here's a screenshot where I get incredibly rough air, up to severe turbulence with 60°+ uncommanded roll (which in itself should make you raise an eyebrow for a same weight/clean configuration/ cruising speed plane, you should get a bump at most) Here I get incredibly smooth air with no disturbance whatsoever (I should be in the middle of the leading F-18 one) Edited July 11 by algherghezghez
Bremspropeller Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Wakes are overly simplified and not really realistic. They make it harder, so most DCS players think it's got to be the real deal. Interval departures are always a hit-or-miss and it's actually safer to take off in formation than waiting 8-20 seconds between take-offs (or landings). 1 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
MAXsenna Posted July 11 Posted July 11 @algherghezghez You don't specify which AT version, and you might be better off asking BD or Reflected if wake turbulence is forced off in the missions. Cheers!

Thanks, I have experienced wake turbulence both in light and heavier aircrafts irl and the sim rendition is far from that. In cruise it’s more of a jolt than anything, unless you are a light plane flying under or behind a very heavy aircraft… 4 hours ago, MAXsenna said: @algherghezghez You don't specify which AT version, and you might be better off asking BD or Reflected if wake turbulence is forced off in the missions. Cheers! Both versions, and its not much of it is on or off, because it is clearly on, it’s rather the “effect” that we get 1
motoadve Posted July 11 Posted July 11 For warbirds I think wake turbulence is spot on. I have experienced it many times in real life while chasing another warbird. 1
