H60MTI Posted Saturday at 02:15 PM Posted Saturday at 02:15 PM Anyone ever had the ME not load? Regardless of what map I am trying to build a mission on or edit, it hangs at "Terrain Graphics Init : 96, *map name*.ng5" I'm on version 2.9.17.12034. I ran a build repair on it. No clue why it's hanging. It's not crashing the game or anything like that, just sticks at that loading spot. Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

H60MTI Posted Saturday at 02:57 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:57 PM I'm not even seeing a DCS.log. I'm seeing a dcs.log.old from today a dcs text document also from today. I'm assuming Saved Games/openbeta/logs? dcs.log dcs.log.old I'm also trying to uninstall DCS but it's also not letting me...I don't think this is an ME issue here... Maybe your antivirus is flagging DCS files, take a look at your AV logs to see if it has quarintined any DCS file. H60MTI Posted Saturday at 03:13 PM Author Posted Saturday at 03:13 PM I don't run any third party AV software, just Microsoft Defender. I'll get in there real quick. Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

H60MTI Posted Saturday at 04:03 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:03 PM Yeah, I know. That's why I said I don't run a third-party AV, just MS Defender. Which I might have misquoted. I'm using the Windows Security which uses MS Defender as the AV portion of the security suite. I'm not seeing anything flagged in Security. I'm currently waiting for DCS to finish reinstalling. Still have 10 mins left... 1 Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"
H60MTI Posted Saturday at 04:50 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:50 PM And by 10 mins I mean 6 hours for all the modules...I might just download a couple and let them download while I sleep tonight. 1 Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

Oh! Please never ever ever re-install, just perform a repair. It's actually the same thing as a re-installation! To completely revert to a plain vanilla installation, perform a full repair, (file integrity check in Steam). And then rename the DCS folder under your saved games, as a repair doesn't touch the Saved Games folders. It takes minutes compared to a full re-installation. Come to think of it. The settings for the ME resides in the Saved Games folders, and can be corrupted from time to time. I wil take a look at your log now. Cheers! H60MTI Posted Saturday at 05:12 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:12 PM I did a full repair prior to uninstalling everything and redownloading from the DCS site. I definitely didn't want to delete everything and start over but nothing else worked. Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

The first log didn't show anything, except that your page file is automatic, and you could try to set it manually to 32768MB, while you should be good as you've got 64GBs of RAM.
H60MTI Posted Saturday at 05:16 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:16 PM (edited) The fresh install worked! I am in the Mission Editor on the WW2 Marianas map. At this point I will slowly start installing my mods, probably a couple at a time so I can keep track of them and test as I go. Then tonight I'll let all the modules install since that'll take hours to do... Edited Saturday at 05:17 PM by H60MTI Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

For a full repair, you need to let it delete unnecessary files. This would most definitely worked with a full repair, and rename of the Saved Games folder, and then adding the mods back one by one to find the culprit. And yes, your mods throws a lot of errors. Found them in the "old" log. Happy you're back in it! Cheers!
H60MTI Posted Saturday at 05:31 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:31 PM Yeah, before I uninstalled everything, I ran a full repair thinking that would work, as it usually does. When that did not work, that's when I went full ham on it and basically started over. I saved some things before deleting everything. I do have all my mods on one of my other SSD's as backups in case something like this happened. It's been months since I actually played DCS so I'm just glad to be back in it. Now, to design a random mission in WW2 Marianas with a modern carrier strike group and some F-18's...Why? Cause why not...LOL 2 Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"

H60MTI Posted Saturday at 05:37 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:37 PM And it's possible it was a conflict in my Saved Game. I'll probably do that tomorrow once all the modules are back in. 1 Former SSG US Army UH-60A/L/M Crewchief "2 To Fly!"
