Crystal Super Vs Quest Pro

The Dream Air SE looks interesting.  Far more sensibly priced, higher res than the QP, Eye Tracking and a DPMI connection.

No, it's not got the mega res of the full fat Dream Air, but that might be a good thing in DCS, as it'll be easier to run.

I'll be looking out for reviews on that.

I currently have a QPro and thinking about the Super. I have a 8kx shelved so I can use $400 of its supposed trade-in for the vaporware 12k on the Suoer.

Personally from my 8kx experience I'm waiting until late fall/early '26 to pull the trigger so the first run bugs are worked on with Pimax.

The only worry I have is the edge to edge clarity with the Super. I originally got the QPro for roomscale wireless VR and planned on using the 8kx for simming with the FOV. But in the end I can't go back from the QPro lense clarity. Much more natural being able to glance around without moving my head. With every VR headset before you have to look directly at what you want to view because of narrow sweetspots.

I've seen mixed reviews on the Super regarding this. Some people are saying the edge clarity is pretty good while others complain it gets blurry outside the center of the lense. So far I don't know if it's a quality control issue or an actual property of the lenses. Hopefully it fleshed out as more headsets are shipped.

The QP is often misunderstood. What I am looking for is a QP with a higher pixel density.

You can select the size of the „sharp“ area via Quadview companion or as it seems now also in Pimax Play. Everything outside the area is a bit blurry. But since the Super has eye tracking, there is simply no chance to look directly at the blurry area, since the sharp focus area moves with your eyes. So it is a trade between size of the sharp focus area and PC performance. I only noticed the blurry area at night when lights of the cities went from crispy sharp light to very blurry ones at the edge of my focus area. So I increased the area while still having good performance and have no problems left regarding any blurry effects.

The edge to edge clarity on the Crystal Super is excellent! I have not heard that it is not good before! That argument against the Super is surprising to me. The lenses are very, very good. «Blurry outside the center of the lense» ?? Nope! Not at all.

The negative things I’ve heard about the Super is that some have had tracking issues, and from the first batch of headsets some mura from the panels. I have not experienced any of this myself. But, I only do «sit down» experiences with my Super, flying or car games, so I don’t move around in my room. So no tracking problems for me. If I was to move around in my room I would prefer a WiFi connected headset like my Quest 3 anyway.

System 1:  Intel I9 13900K, ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC, 32 GB RAM@6000Mhz.
System 2:

Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudderpedals. Realsimulator FSSB-RL MKII ULTRA Joystick base + Realsimulator F16SGRH V2 grip. WingWing Throttle with F 16 grip. Moza Force feedback base + Thrustmaster F-18 grip, Virpil F14 grip, Thrustmaster A-10 grip.

VR: Pimax Crystal Super, Crystal OG, 8KX, Pico 4, Quest 3. Buttkicker Gamer Pro. Next Level Motion Platform V3.

From reviews on different sites and some YouTube ones I've heard both ways. Kind of why I'm waiting until fall/winter to pull the trigger to see if it's just a QA issue with first run headsets. It's the Pimax way.

I'm familiar with Quadviews, I run it on the QPro add it had eye tracking as well. I've seen mixed reviews on edge to edge clarity of the lens itself. Meta has some of the best lenses out there.
