JZF Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Good morning! I had Windows 10 on my computer and was updating DCS without any problems, but I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and when I tried to update DCS, the following error message appeared: “Curl error (35): SSL connect error.” What does this mean and what is the solution? Thank you! Paul

JZF Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 Thank you for your prompt response. I am located in mainland China, so I use a VPN to access Western websites, but even with the VPN active, the error message appears. I just tried updating DCS again and the error message appeared immediately. It seems that the problem is with the servers. Please see the attached file. BRegards autoupdate_log.txt

JZF Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 Good morning, I tested DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but got the same error, so I changed the values to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 and the problem was solved. The program started updating DCS, but the download speed was so slow that I ended up giving up. I am located in mainland China. Could that be the problem? Thank you!

Thank you! being in china should not matter but who knows. are you able to ask your ISP? the speed of the download should not be affected by change in DNS. your computer would query DNS to get the appropriate IPs for the canonical name CDN... then DCS will use that DNS to connect to get the updates. you did this step correct? "reset you home network equipment" ISP may have a bad route too. this could cause slowness. but the DNS set to a root server makes your situation confusing. JZF Posted Friday at 02:50 PM Author Posted Friday at 02:50 PM Good morning, Yes, I reset my home network, but it didn't solve anything. Now, even changing the DNS values doesn't help, and the following error message appears: Should I reinstall the game? Will that solve it? Thank you!

Thank you! hello. sorry to hear you still have troubles. reinstalling will not correct this issue. one never has to reinstall. i repair will do the same and take much less time. you may try to disable IPv6 on your computer. another thing to check is see if you changed HOSTS file. it is located C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. open it with notepad. then post contents here. also in command prompt run ipconfig/all again and post that content. 1 AKA_SilverDevil Join AKA Wardogs Email Address My YouTube “The MIGS came up, the MIGS were aggressive, we tangled, they lost.” - Robin Olds - An American fighter pilot. If you have many maps there is a lot of stuff being updated. It will replace a bunch of the existing files, but first it has to download and unpack them. So you won't see that big of increase in total usage after it's done, but it needs a bunch to do the update. You can remove a map or two to free up space or do a search in the forums for how to use symbolic links to move maps to a different drive to free up space. 1
