hey pilots,

I have a small problem with setting up multiple tankers in the same group. I'm building a mission in which I need pilots to perform air refueling together and simultaneously, so I created a tanker group in the mission with 2 tankers; let's call them Arco 1-1 and Arco 1-2. Since they are in the same group, I can only have one radio frequency, i.e., 280.000. Then I realized that I can set a frequency for each unit in advanced waypoint actions (AWA); hence, I created 2 different frequencies for each unit, 280.250 and 280.750, but when I jump into the mission, I can only see and talk to Arco 1-1 in the comms menu at 280.000! It totally ignores the unit frequencies.

Is there a trick to make this work? Am I doing something wrong, or is this a DCS limitation?

Can you perhaps upload your mission so we can take a look?

Can you show how you set up the frequency with all the advanced waypoint action?

And why does it need to be two in the same group? Why not just copy the tanker?

tried this a couple of years ago and came to the conclusion that only the first plane in a group could be a tanker.

Maybe you can try a follow command.

Edit: and if it working please post pictures. Think that give some good ones.

Just have multiple groups, put them in racetrack orbit at the opposite starting point and with 2000’+ height difference.

Personally, I now give my tankers unlimited fuel, so as to avoid needing the set up triggers for replacements.

7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Sure, you can find the mission in the attachment.

Well, I need them to fly in close formation. like IRL

I've tried more, and unfortunately I reached the same conclusion; apparently it's a DCS limitation.

I prefer having them flying in one close formation so the strike package can refuel at same point so they don't need waste time on rejoining.

If you simply copy the plane to a parallel course a couple of feets to the side, the formation seems quiet stable. Copy to a lower racetrack seems not so stable.
The issues with the call signs will be there and unfortunately there are no board numbers for identification. But I think that is the best you can get at the moment from DCS.

Hopefully ED rework the tankers one day.
