Punkmonkey22 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Which of the existing warbirds should the Hellcat be most similar to with realistic modelling? Just curious as I love the P-47 and I see a lot of similarity between the two birds in terms of specs and design. 1
Ala13_ManOWar Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Probably none of them, but engine management wise it's obviously something relatively close to P-47 and F4U. I don't think any of the others would be anything even vaguely similar to compare to. 1 "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. It should be able to out turn any of the other warbirds. Shouldn't be as fast as the F4U, but the Mag3 Corsair is so poorly modeled in DCS that I don't even know how to factor it in. The Hellcat should outperform anything Japanese with energy maneuvers and it should be really close in turning. At near stall speeds, the zero will have a smaller turning radius but the Hellcat should never be at those speeds. You should be able to outclimb, outdive, and instantaneously outturn a zero provided you have enough energy to be at 6g's or so 2
Mr_sukebe Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) With its weight, I’d expect it to fly more like a P47, ie fast, but with worse turn rates than say a Spit. i see to remember Greg suggesting that turn rate was directly related to stall speed, with the power level denoting how long you can maintain that for.
