obious Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I’ve been spending a lot of time in the CH47 recently and one thing that has stood out is how good the physics of the sling load cables is (at least when connected to a heavy object). Why can’t we have that for the SC’s arresting wires? 2 Intel 12900k @ 5.2Ghz, RTX 4090, Samsung 1TB NVME, Thrustmaster Warthog & F-18 stick, Pendular Rudder Pedals - Quest Pro AV8B N/A UFC Build Log AV8B N/A PCBs for sale
AndyJWest Posted September 16 Posted September 16 What do you consider to be incorrect regarding the arresting wires? 2

If you have an iPhone, try CarrierLandingHD and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. Don’t you think the wire physics is a little lacking in the way it pays out and just generally behaves when an aircraft’s hook is attached to it? And comparing DCS to some random smartphone sim tells us nothing of consequence. And you haven't answered my question: what do you consider to be incorrect regarding the arresting wires. Incorrect, that is, in comparison to how the real-world arrestor cables behave, which is the only thing that matters. 3

I don’t really want to get into a back-and-forth with you as I don’t think it’s constructive but what I would say is that it’s not a ‘random’ smartphone sim, it’s a combat flight sim with carrier landings simulated so my comparison is somewhat warranted. I sincerely apologise for not answering your question, I didn’t mean to trigger you by saying my view on the current wire physics is that they need improvement. It doesn’t take an expert to perhaps come to the opinion that how the cables behave in game vs. how they appear to in countless amounts of footage on YT suggests improvements are needed in terms of the wires impact on an airframe at touchdown/hook grab. If you think I’m wrong, just say that instead of using italics and suggesting my comparisons offer nothing of consequence. draconus Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Of course the wire can be simulated better. Atm it's good enough for the aircraft behavior in the cockpit. That's why it's not something of high priority. Why such weird thread title if it's only a simple wish? We can have it - it's only a matter of devs' will, time and money. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
MAXsenna Posted September 17 Posted September 17 @obious Are you talking about the simulation or the animations? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1

Well, you have made a wish, I support it. Hopefully they'll get around to it after the updated refueling hose physics. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 2
