as of 9/24/25 getting incompatible settings for all loadouts

I have several missions with either MK-82s and others with GBU12 and CBU87. All of them now say "incompatible settings" for pylons 3 and 7. Moreover, the GBUs no longer release with those missions. CBUs do release, but the GBUs, while indicating RDY on the SMS page and while the targeting pod is targeted squarely on the target, and the HUD indicates I am in the release range - the weapon release button does not release the GBUs. This happened after the two most recent updates. It was working perfectly well up until about two weeks ago.

  • I did run DCS repair (all files)
  • I removed the caches in the fxo and metashafers2 directories
  • neither of these two suggested fixes made any difference.

Tried also rebuilding the loadouts, with no difference.

Does anyone have any idea what's the problem or how to fix it? Is it me or did they break the F-16c recently?

The older litening pod seems to work ok. GBUs release, auto-lase and hit properly. But:

  • Cannot get a release with the advanced TGP (worked before, after the F16-C came out of early access)
  • The new TGP remains blurry, out of focus the whole time, even when I hold position on it for a long time. The older TGP is sharp

Will continue experimenting and will report here

I suggest you do some searching on the forums regarding this.  The new pod is deliberately (and correctly) worse than the "existing" pod in the F-16 because the previously modelled one was much clearer than it should have been vs IRL.  There are also tips on how to get a clearer picture (don't fly the F-16 much currently so I can't tell exactly what will help).

@arnon

Hi, some stuff changed since Sniper ATP released so it would be best to do some research regarding those changes,

There is Wags playlist on the F-16 and last 2 videos are about the Sniper pod I suggest you watch those:

Also there is Viper Mini Updates thread on this forum whee you can find info about updates to the Viper:

Then there is the dreaded manual, you can find it in your DCS/Mods/aircraft/F-16C/doc folder.

Regarding old Litening targeting pod, it is a mix of Litening and Latirn pod which is not realistic and way too sharp for the time period of our F-16, it will be removed after they do proper simulation of Lantirn pod as far as I know.

Thanks for the responses folks, they are good and correct. But I did use the advanced targeting pod before, and while it was blurry initially, when you stay on target it would sharpen up. I did see the Wags video when it came out and did read the section in the manual. I probably need to go through these again. While it is entirely possible that the problem is between the chair and the desk, I think that so far I see a real set of problems.

I forgot to mention, that not all the ground targets in my practice mission show up at all, and when one target gets hit, the others seemed to entirely disappear. This is a simple mission I created myself, so it has no triggers, and the targets I'm talking about don't even move (like scud launchers).

I'll continue looking deeper into it and experimenting as time allows. But I suspect that there are real problems with my installation after the last patches. I don't know whether they are limited to my setup or not.

Also, what is definitely broken is the message about an incompatible loadout for loadouts that are perfectly legitimate. See the example in the screenshot. Again, I don't know whether it's a problem only on my setup or not. But this one I am absolutely certain is not a problem with how I use DCS.

Fuzes got some changes in the last major update.

Basically if you hover over the loadout without doing anything, you'll see that some options might have "null" value. When you open up a fuze setting you'll see that they all got reloaded. That's the "fix"

Vakarian just answered as I was typing my reply.  I'm getting it on both F-16 and F/A-18.  If I just click the weapon properties (yellow arrow) and press OK it fixes it.  I hope they'll fix this though so I don't have to go through all of my missions and fix each one manually.

As for the new ATP, are you doing a FLIR Calibration?  It clears up the image some.  You will need to re-calibrate it after some time too.  From page 395 of the manual:

Quote

FLIR Calibration (FLIR CAL). Enables/disables calibration of the FLIR camera. When enabled, the text to
the left of OSB 9 will be highlighted in white and a FLIR camera calibration will be initiated. The TGP video
will blank and “FLIR CAL” will be displayed below the Line-Of-Sight Crosshairs with a sequence of asterisks
(*) indicating the calibration is in progress.

The FLIR calibration process requires 30 seconds to complete, after which the TGP video is displayed and
FLIR CAL next to OSB 9 is automatically de-selected. However, the FLIR calibration may be interrupted by
manually de-selecting OSB 9 or forcing the TGP to Standby mode by pressing OVRD at OSB 4, which will
abort the calibration and revert to the previously stored coefficients.

NOTE: The quality of the FLIR video may degrade over time, which may be resolved by periodically
performing a FLIR calibration during the mission. However, interrupting a FLIR calibration before it can
successfully complete may result in a slightly worse video quality.

Thanks @Vakarian! While nothing showed null, clicking the fuse settings definitely cleared the problem. BTW for those not famlliar, to access the fuse settings click the yellow triangle in the corner.

Thanks @MeanJim. I've forgotten about the FLIR calibration. Will definitely try this and will report back.
