RacerOne Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Has anybody else noticed the AI Corsairs are incredibly loud on the ground? It so bad on the Marianna's cold start mission that when the AI Corsair is taxiing from the other side of the field to take off it is very difficult to tell if my engine has even started.. I can barely hear it. Just wondering if it's my system or something others have noticed?
Hiob Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Shut the canopy. Or enable helmet in the audio options. Or both. I don’t know what to tell you. Aircraft are loud. More seriously, check the „world“ audio gain. Generally speaking the environmental audio gain is pretty high in DCS (also applies to the F2 view e.g.) "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
MAXsenna Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Turn down the world volume slider? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
Hiob Posted September 28 Posted September 28 That‘s what I meant, yeah. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Art-J Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I think what OP wants to point out is whacky volume balance in Corsair module specifically, compared to all other DCS warbirds, which have their external/AI sounds noticeably more quiet (at least idle and low RPM sounds). That was something that surprised me immediately after release as well. Since we can't tune sounds individually per aircraft, changing global settings isn't great solution really, 'cause it will mess up balance in all remaining modules. 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
RacerOne Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 Copy all. I guess I've just never noticed it with any of the other aircraft, except maybe the Tomcat. It certainly isn't as loud with a Mustang or Thunderbolt when they are on the field. I'm not talking about if the aircraft is right next to you. This is when I'm on the parking stand at the start of a mission and clear on the other side of the field a Corsair starts up. It's so loud I simply wait for him to start up, taxi and takeoff before I do anything. Same thing happens (I'm talking specifically on the Marianna's cold start mission, when the two Corsairs come in and land. As soon as they hit the ground I can no longer hear my own engine running, it gets drowned out by two Corsairs rolling to their hardstands until they shut down.
Stevecat Posted September 29 Posted September 29 yeah it would be cool if they flip flopped the AI sounds to the player aircraft. when those AI birds fly over they sound 10x better than mine.
skybaby68 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago "Aircraft are loud?" Not the most helpful tip ever as this is clearly an oversight. AI Corsairs have absolutely no spatial sound like all other vehicles & aircraft in DCS. No matter how far away the aircraft is, within a distance of around 1/2 to 3/4 mile, they will sound as if they're right next to you until they're outside that 1/2 mile bracket then they're silent. It's very distracting tbh. i9 14900K - ROG Maximus Z790 Hero - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 - 64GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 XMP - Samsung 4TB SSD - Pimax Crystal - Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle & Joystick - VirPil AH-64D Grip - Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals
