Arikaj Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Good day everyone, after checking every post I could, I managed to gather enough information to possibly solve the underlying issue and not just disabling the hot plug option. Symptoms: stutters in game (DCS, MSFS) while TrackIR device is unplugging/plugging. While the symptoms were taking place, Device Manager would refresh its list of devices. I came across "DevManView" program that lists all of your devices the same as Windows Device Manager, however with much more information. I filtered the devices by "Connect Time" (need to run it as admin) and when the games stuttered, approximately 4 seconds before this, there was a log for the culprit device. For me it was a HP printer at my home connected by LAN. I disabled the printer in the Windows Device Manager and I haven't got the stutters since then. Wanted to make this post, because I did not come across a definitive answer in multiple posts and I did not want to just disable the hot plug, because it would not fix the underlying issue that could develop into another problems. Hopefully this posts helps somebody. 2

It is a interesting finding and it sounds the issue is kind of related to the system resource handing underneath DCS. Has any chance checked this following forum yet? Hiob Posted October 11 Posted October 11 The main problem for gaming on windows was always windows. It wasn’t made for gaming (most OS aren’t) and it shows. Microsoft for the longest time couldn’t care less and then half arsed some “gaming features” <cough> on top that never worked. Only half decent attempt to improve the situation was the advent of DirectX, but that didn’t fix the patchwork of process managing, cpu scheduling, memory organisation and so on. Well that is what we’re stuck with for now and have to work around. Let’s hope that SteamOS (or something similar) will gain traction eventually. /rant 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Vielen Dank! fun aside. you are spot on. windows is fundamentally bad at gaming unless you can get the settings right. i personally do not have any issues or can work them out on my own. the benefit of being a sysadmin since floppies and sneakernet days. 1 AKA_SilverDevil Join AKA Wardogs Email Address My YouTube “The MIGS came up, the MIGS were aggressive, we tangled, they lost.” - Robin Olds - An American fighter pilot. I actually started my Flight Sim Career with endless sessions of tweaking the config.sys and autoexec.bat to squeeze out 600K of expanded memory to make Falcon 3.0 run on MS-DOS…. But you are right. To MS credit, Windows (NT and descendants) improved the experience/stability a lot. In the early W95/98 times Blue Screens were almost a daily occurrence. Still, a gaming platform it is not….. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
