skybaby68 Posted Saturday at 11:12 AM Posted Saturday at 11:12 AM Title says it all really. All generic RAF squadron codes have 'always' been wrong in DCS WW2 aircraft. Port-side only. It would've taken about 25 seconds research to see that historical RAF codes always had the 2-letter squadron code 'before' the roundel. followed by the individual aircraft letter 'after' the roundel. This is a huge oversight and I'm sure, one that would've easily been fixed but never has. Is there hope that this can indeed be fixed? 1 i9 14900K - ROG Maximus Z790 Hero - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 - 64GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 XMP - Samsung 4TB SSD - Pimax Crystal - Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle & Joystick - VirPil AH-64D Grip - Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals
Slippa Posted Saturday at 11:26 AM Posted Saturday at 11:26 AM Paul Daniels comes to mind. “Not a lot”. Who knows how complicated this would be to put right? Not me, but I’d like to see the bort numbers fixed as well. We live in hope. Hope springs eternal, where there’s life there’s hope etc. etc.
Art-J Posted Monday at 07:19 AM Posted Monday at 07:19 AM Truth to be told, that "25-seconds research" of historic and restored Mossie photos on google reveals that 'reversed' order on port side of the Mosquito was a thing (probably because of limited space between wing and roundel for a two letter code?) and even appears to be much more common than 'standard' one. There's nothing to 'fix' then, unless we want to implement dynamic roundel and letter types & sizes & positions, but that already puts us in anything-but-easy-fix territory. Other DCS warbirds? You might have a point, but I'd argue if it was such an easy thing to implement, it would've been done already. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Solution DD_Fenrir Posted 12 hours ago Solution Posted 12 hours ago For every rule there is an exception. On most RAF aircraft @skybaby68, typically you are correct, when reading left to right the squadron code should be to the left of the roundel, however there are numerous exceptions across a number of airframes. In the case of the mosquito, it seems like it depends on the squadron - there are a number that obey this standard however as shown above there are many that don't. From my research, most if not all of the 2nd TAF Mosquito FB.VI units contravene the standard and place the squadron code aft of the roundel on the port side. 1
