Lixma 06 Posted Thursday at 01:47 PM Posted Thursday at 01:47 PM Unless I'm doing it wrong - when selecting and loading a weather preset from the list in the mission editor all the wind stuff changes but the cloud type does not. In the video I select 'Summer; Heavy Thunderstorm' but when entering the mission the sky is a lovely 'Scattered 2' with no rain. It is blowing a gale, though. Weatherbug.trk
twicesss Posted Thursday at 07:02 PM Posted Thursday at 07:02 PM Make sure “Use weather preset” is enabled in the mission editor when you load that preset. Sometimes the editor defaults to custom or dynamic weather, which overrides the preset. After loading the preset, double-check the cloud type slider (in the weather settings) — it might automatically set to something and override your selection. Try saving and closing the mission editor, then reopen it. Sometimes the preset change doesn’t take effect until the mission file is reloaded. Check if you have “random cloud type” or “weather dynamic” ticked in the mission options — that would cause the cloud type to revert every time. If everything seems correct and the problem persists, it may well be a bug. In that case, you could post your mission file (.miz) and version of DCS so devs can reproduce it. This was output by ChatGPT — I personally don't know the answer; I tried to help as best I could.
Ironhand Posted Friday at 12:43 PM Posted Friday at 12:43 PM From the DCS User Manual: Quote WEATHER TEMPLATES. Rather than require you to create weather conditions each time you create a mission, the editor provides you the means to load saved weather templates and even modify them. These can be useful tools to save time when creating missions for a campaign. The Weather Template section has the following elements: • Template List. On the left side of the template section is a drop-down list of saved weather templates. To select a template, you must left mouse click on it. Once selected, you will then need to click the LOAD button to load the template into the Weather settings tool. • LOAD selected template button. Once you have selected a weather template from the template list, press this button to LOAD the template into the Weather settings tool. • SAVE button. If after loading a template you change its settings, you may then click the SAVE button to save those changes to the template. • REMOVE button. To remove a template from the Template List, select the template and then click the REMOVE button. Have you selected “Load”? Czar Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Those presets are from the old weather code. It only changes temperature, winds and turbulence as of current DCS. It doesn't mix with the clouds and atmosphere layer presets as that feature is newer and detached. It is been like this since the new clouds implementation. Try to use "nothing" in the clouds and atmosphere layer preset to see if the weather presets change clouds density. "Nothing" in the cloud and atmosphere layer opens up other options for a single cloud layer that are not available on the C&A layers presets. I find it cool how it looks. You can tweak the cloud layer thickness too. Edit: Did a quick look and it works with "nothing" preset. Weather presets will change base, thickness, density and activates rain when it should.
