Hello, could someone give me a step-by-step tutorial on radio communications?

Situation:

I am in an OH-58D group.

Another group includes an AH-64D AI with the radio frequency 250.00 MHz AM.

My radio 2 is selected with this frequency 250.00 MHz.

I can hear communications from the AH-64D, e.g., passing waypoint... position bba blah blah...

But I don't get any responses to the commands I give via the radio menu, Flight go to... Flight rejoin formation...

Any help?

Flight commands are useless for a different flight. It only works for your wingmen, not seperate groups.

In DCS, you can basically not interact at all with different aircraft, only with your wingmen, ATC, AWACS, Tankers and JTAC.

To add to this, mission creators actually have a lot of ways to get AI to perform tasks. But mission creators cannot currently interface with the normal radio items. What they can do is to add radio items under the F10 radio menu (where F1 = Wingman, F5 = ATC, F8 = Ground Crew and so on, and F10 = Other).

So there's a chance you might find radio commands under F10 Other that tell other flights to perform certain tasks. But that is 100 % mission dependent, and this menu also doesn't actually send any simulated radio transmissions, so you won't hear the player voice this (well... unless the mission creator added a voice-over 😇) and it's not a transmission on a given frequency. It's rather a workaround that some mission creators choose to offer players more immersion and flexibility in their missions.

Long story short, you didn't do anything wrong @clanitho. 😉
