kraszus Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Well, I bought Blackshark on release some months ago and i still haven't got to grips with it. (Basically the whole trim / FD thing). For that reason I seldom play. I have read a lot of conflicting advice here on the forums with regard to Autopilot and Trimming. So I was wondering is there an online squad that helps rookies like myself out. If not, is there any interest out there in creating one? Perhaps using Ventrilo or something similar?
GGTharos Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 There is, I forget what it is but there's a bunch of people out there willing to help out on-line. INcidentally, if you are having a trimming issue please post a track so we can have a look. It may be that you are doing everything correct but your input devices or your setup in general is causing a problem. Please remember that trimming does exactly this: It 'sets' the controls to stay wherever you've moved them. You can see this is the motion of the controls inside the chopper. Because your REAL stick cannot do this (unless it is FFB) you MUST quickly center it after trimming, or you're going to add more deflection to the stick's new position. The FD removes autopilot influence. Specifically, when flying with FD off, every time you push trim not ONLY does it 'stick' the controls where you are holding them, but also telling the autopilot: Hold this pitch, bank, and heading. 159th_Viper Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 So I was wondering is there an online squad that helps rookies like myself out...... See the Multiplayer section with a list of all Squads/Servers. Usually a link to the relevant Squad Page/Forums. All you gotta do is ask - we are always more than happy to assist. Might not always have the answer you're after, but we'll always try our damndest to set you straight :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Conuk Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 (if i can chip in on the same post and problem if I may kraszus) im too having problems with it to be honest - I still think its awesome but am struggling. Which mission or training should I be using to learn the basics. Take over from the training video? or select the shooting range mission? If I hit `quick start` to startup the options etc that are enabled - is this the easiest/correct setup to learn to fly ? i.e with the FD enabled or not and all the settings lit up ? Im waiting to see if I can order a manual to see if that helps. My helicopter seems to instantly go backwards on takeoff and veers off all over the place sometimes - really not sure whether I should have FD enabled and all or some of the AP stuff.... is the helicopter trying to head to a waypoint programmed in the training missions etc that Im trying to fight against ?! Some more videos would be cool to look at of you guys that have mastered basic flight would be very good. (my problem is the little boy who is 6 months wont let me have as many flying hours as I would like ;) I will persevere though !
Conuk Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 also I have G25 wheel and pedals (not connected at the same time) are these pedals useful for the rudder as Im thinking pedals are vital for rudder......
Snacko Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Check out a squad... Most of them have lots of guys who area happy to train you. I fly with the http://war-hawks.net, and that is how I learned to fly it. We just had a class in using the Data Link to send targets to each other, which was very cool. It's a US squad if that helps your timezone. And they just fly for fun, there is no organizational structure..
