Blue Screen Of Death

All my other games work (including Blackshark) but when i go to play Lock-on (with the flaming cliffs add-on) i get the blue screen of death every time.

 

it worked up until about last week when it started doing this. the game is fully updated and all my drivers are fully updated.

 

hp laptop

 

Intel Core2 Duo 2.10ghz

 

3gb ram (with a 4 gb ready boost drive)

 

256 mb dedicated Nvidia 8400m gs (updated drivers from nvidia.com)

you must of updated something?

vista 64 bit, 32 bit, XP Pro 32bit, 64 bit? all these system information really would nelp.. Its sounds like a driver issue..

its a vista 32 bit and i got the correct vista 32 bit drivers from nvidia for my card.

could be the lap top over heat, has it done it again? might of just been one of those things. I had Blue screen error yesterday and it was just one of those things, that happens, nothing special an error in the longhorn code is all it said.

nope, temperature is fine (gpu between 45c-53c and cpu's 30c-35c), i even cleaned the laptop fan and heatsink out and there wasnt much in there)

 

just keeps doing it, i loved playing lock on when it worked:cry::cry::cry:

it could be one of the windows updates screwing with you. Can you post a DxDiag.txt file on here?

 

go to start, applications, then run.

 

in the box, type in dxdiag

 

then click enter. It should produce a diagnostic window. When the diagnostic finishes, click the save all information button and post the saved text document in your next post.

Try updating your sound card drivers. They are rarely ever a problem, but you never know.

another option could be corrupted memory or memory drivers. Look into updating your memory controller drivers, and try running one of the many free memory checker programs out there. Or, you could run the windows memory diagnostic. You can find it at http://oca.microsoft.com/en/mtinst.exe

 

**Note: the windows memory diagnostic requires you to write the file to a floppy, or it gives you the option of saving the file as a CD image that can be mapped to a virtual CD drive.

still nothing, i tried doing the old hp nvidia drivers and it didnt solve it. i tried a clean re-install of the game and that didnt work. i dont get it, i have no problems with any of my other games. i've only had this game(and addon) for 3 months and now it doesnt work. :(

some driver+hardware configurations cause BSOD when both anti-aliasing in drivers is forced on and heatblur (ingame option) is on!

Try turning any of these off.

update: tried a fresh install and got the "comdlg32.ocx is missing thing"

 

could this be the problem and how do i fix it?

figured it out, its the 1.1b and 1.12b update for FC, non-patched FC works.

It isn't related to LOFC. Most likely it's because of some third party software. Anyway I would suggest to download comdlg32.ocx and place it in LOFC installation.
