Bah, after months of playing on and off, I'm ready to give up trying to fly the Ka50. Maybe I'm too used to flying EECH, even though I fly it with realistic settings also.

I'm prepared to wait til the AH64 is released for DCS but would like to know beforehand, does the AH64 have the same flight 'characteristics' as the Ka50 with regard to Trimming?

Why give up? I came to this with about 12 years of fixed wing simulation experience and boy has it been hard adjusting but so amazingly rewarding. This is the hardest sim I have ever flown but when you start to intuitively understand how to control the Ka-50 the sim becomes truly incredible. Surely you can't be deterred by the trimming? It is really very simple though I think our minds like to complicate it before we work that out :-)

Ka-52? :P I don't find EECH helicopter controls realistic. It is just few buttons and off you go. I learned how to fly steadily and hover in every single one below 1h time - without any prior experience with "realistic" helicopter sims - if there were any ;)

Oops...Ka52 is the Alligator isn't it heh

At the minute I'm using Reticuli's GlovePIE script to help with trimming but I still fly like a brick :P

I use a Saitek AV8R - non ffb.

Thanks for the tips folks - believe me, I've read countless topics on the forums here with advice on how to fly the Blackshark :)

In this thread, I really just want to know if the Apache is going to modeled in the same was as the Hokum with regard to trimming.

Im trying to make you not give up on the black shark :P

I too have read a lot of topics with regards to trimming. I use a x52, and I had a lot of trouble trimming. Turned ffb off, everything worked like a charme.

On-topic: I have no idea what the ah-64 trimming is like, since I dont know what trimming system is used in the apache.

But I guess it will be more-or-less be the same..

What are you talking about. Where do you disable force feedback in DCS, and what kind of advantage that is for person (like me) without any force feedback controls?

I haven't done it, and I can fly Ka-50 as/is.

This is only relevant to people who have a non-ffb joystick.

You can turn it of in producer.cfg

Change true after "ForceFeedbackEnabled" into false.

This is located in the config map.

I must warn you, I dont know what will happen if you use a ffb joystick.

This trick is for people who have non-ffb joystick but have other ffb controllers plugged into usb (i.e. even stupid joypad wich you don't use in BS). With joypad it is simple to unplug it but when you use ffb wheel pedals as a rudder you have to do this in producers.cfg.

Oh finally I know what for was that ;]

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Hi kraszus,

just get the same advices as given to Leroy1964 one thread above (now); the point is: practice! No one was born with helo stick in his/her hand, as my commander said once. Do not give it up!:smilewink:

By the way, I think there won't be easier to implement or use AH-64 trim; I've heard rumors about auto-trim, I have no idea how the hell it would work with either FFB or non-FFB stix :dunno:.

Or, get a good FFB stick:).

I thing the FF is the main culpret to the problems that most new pilots have in this sim. When you trim with a FF stick the stick will stay put but a non FF stick will move back to the middle. If FF is enabled and you have a non FF stick when you move the stick back to the middle the game thinks you are trying to manuver. with FF off after hitting the trim you return the stick to the cinter position and the KA-50 shuld hold the trimed position. their is some error in the trim and that is something you have to get use to and compensate for. Just learn what it does and how to fix and keep doing it the same way.
