Running FC on a Network on 2 PCs ??????

i got FC and was very anoyed about the activation stuff :icon_evil

good i see, you guys have something to do about pirates but know the honest costumers are having the sh*t:icon_hang

 

My question: I do like to play lomac on 2 Systems, because one i need as server and on the other i do my pilot stuff :cool: with my friends, online!

 

1.Now, can i install it with use of one activation credit on a other PC in my network, or do i make something ilegal???

 

2.Will i get new activation credits in case i change my system or have to reinstall few times???

Each PC you run the application on requires a license, as far as I know, with any software.

 

It's like saying: I bought Windows XP Professional. I have two PC's

You can't use that single license on both PC's.

 

Ideally, there would be a dedicated server (which obviously does not require a license).

It's a bunch of crap. It's like telling somebody that just bought a $500,000 car and can only park it in 1 garage or bought 1 DVD movie and can only play it in there living room DVD player, not there bedroom player.

 

You bought it, You bought both your PC's, do what you want.

Yeah, I know. But it's still BS. Install it on another PC, use another activation. Hell most games ship with dedicated servers on the CD you can install on another comp dont even need cd-key, or cd or anything. Why is this game begin so difficult lol

This is an issue that has been going on for some time.

 

You just made a purchase [licensed software] that has conditions of use. That is the legal mobojombo that no one ever reads, but we all agree to.

 

Its like a catch-22, in order to use the software you just brought, you have to agree to the terms of usage. Yes, you did buy it, But, you can't, according to the terms, do what you want with it [legally].

I've got my copy of 1.02 installed on my dekstop machine and my laptop. In theory there's no reason why I can't do that as long as I never run them at the same time... at which point I (legally) ought to have two copies.

 

Of course I *have* run both at the same time to mess about with networking and some silly attempts to fly no-lag formation with myself <note to self: must get a friend :->

 

With 1.1 it looks like we need to buy two copies to network at home. I'm happy to do that actually (particularly as the money goes straight to ED now, not Ubi), but not until this activation mess has calmed down. The prospect of buying two copies again when I screw up isn't very attractive :-)
