W-Natas Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 I think so too... A copyprotection should be against pirates... NOT customers This message was sponsored by "askingstupidquestions.com" in cooparation with "icantfly.de".
Sky Eagle Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Starforce really that bad ? I have never heard ot it actually...
Orao Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 I'm waiting for CD version either at Simware or at Naturalpoint. I was hesitating to buy it, but after reading the forum I saw that the problem isn't the SF but rather 5 activations limit. Sorry ED but this is not how things should be.
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 SF disables your ability to make legal backups of your CD's and DVD's.
aceflier Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Read my post above Rugg i been trying to tell people but they dont listen. ED and Starforce can do no wrong. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Wicked Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Downloaded it and had no problems with both FC and Paypal. Im not a big fan of SF but hey....at least I can fly my very favourite Frogfoot, the SU-25T. Love the aircraft. :D Cheers!
Dmut Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 ruggbutt, what's exactly SF disables and how to reproduce this issue? step by step instruction, please. I haven't notice anything wrong with my CD\DVR burners. "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Pilotasso Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 It apears that not everybody has this issue, yet this not new. Previous SF versions were rumoured to do this as well. It sounds too incredible for a protection system to block disk copies (even if it makes sense) to afirm its made on purpose but rather a bug that should have long been cleared. either way this is a dealdly stain in starforce software company reputation. Theres no excuse to continue getting this kind of flaws after all the conterversy and garauntees given. .
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 SF disables the ability for you to use Nero to copy a CD or DVD. You can burn CD's and DVD's, just not copy them. To copy some legal music CD's I have to convert them to mp3, then reassemble them to burn a CD. Starforce has disabled the ability to make an exact copy of anything that I own, regardless whether it's CD or DVD. I have a LOMAC DVD of user made vids that I can't copy, so I have to go back into my authoring software and remake the vid from scratch again. That's 3 hours worth of work.

I understood it the first time. Again sounds like a glitch since not everybody is having it. Starforce should have been straightened out for this flaw, I cant believe this is actualy true. They havent donne their homework right, its what seems to be the most evident hypothesis. I mean if it was on purpose to block the CD copies, it would be downright illigal (do you see the irony?!) not to mention extremely arrogant for a company that should be making protection to a specific software protection instead of poliecing or making preemptive strike on thos who pay for software. .
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Well I'm stymied then, cuz this is a clean OS install. I don't understand how some have the problems and some don't. I'm just not thrilled that my software has been compromised by their software.
