Pilotasso Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I have one, I now have rotator spikes when moving the throttle. You might want to wait for thrustmasters A-10 HOTAS instead of this one. .
Tango Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Damn potentiometers! WHY do they keep using them??? :( Best regards, Tango.
talisman Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Theres really nothing wrong with pots - as long as they are of good quality. In most cases, good quality Pots will outlive the product. sobek Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Theres really nothing wrong with pots - as long as they are of good quality. In most cases, good quality Pots will outlive the product. IMHO the concept of pots is OUTDATED, pots are a horrible means to measure deflection, they give you noise while moving, are not contactless, etc. and most importantly, there is a better alternative. Why anybody still uses them (yes anybody means you logitech) when hall sensors are so common...i don't get it. ugh, i'm fed up with this stick, if they don't bring out those drivers soon i'm gonna send it back. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Revvin Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Pots in my CH gear are 6 years old and still going strong. Its all down to the quality of the components whether they have moving parts or not. Even electronic components with no moving parts can break if they are cheap. It seems Havoc is doing ok with his though, whats works for some doesn't for others.
AussieFX Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Not having trouble with mine either. (after tearing it apart and cleaning it because the daughter kindly tipped a full mug of coffee over it.) :joystick:
AussieFX Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Hehe milk and 2 sugars. If you're going to do a job you may as well do it right the first time.
Valthonis Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I've been considering whether or not I should get one of these G940s. I came here hoping for a solid answer, but it seems there are two groups, either love it or hate it and little in the middle. So...it is truely worth getting? :) AMD X4 Phenom II 2.8ghz 8096mb DDR-2 Intel 80gb SSD Geforce 9600GSO 768mb (True GSO 192bit memory) Soon to be completed HT with 8ft wide projector screen, and 7.1 surround sound. All I need now is HOTAS, Pedals, and TrackIR. :pilotfly:
Silent Warrior Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Looks like a bit more trouble than it would be worth, at the moment. At least with that price-tag.
sobek Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Looks like a bit more trouble than it would be worth, at the moment. At least with that price-tag. The price is actually VERY competitive, given that it includes a rudder pedal unit as well. However, there are quality assurance problems as well as driver problems that need to be solved before i would recommend the unit to anybody. Save yourself the hassle and wait a little longer. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Pilotasso Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) No, 300 Euros just doenst justify for 1 extra throttle axis. Its more expensive than the cougar or CH setups (at least in US) and by no means does it reach their high end level. G940 is a med/high end, but carries a price tag of high end. Its porgramibility is ver very limited, the throttle is plaged by unprecisison while the stick requires developer assitance to each SIM editor to function properly. Judging by the lack of Logitech's interest in coming forward with better suport for custumers, newer and debugged software, I think the center slop and the necessity to trim it all the time just wont be fixed, ever. I would buy an X52 Pro if I already wanst planning to buy between X65 and A-10 HOTAS offers, soon to be avaiable. For just extra 100 smackers you get either of these premium, ultra high end HOTAS. Lucas_From_Hell Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Pilotasso, in the US prices are under 300 dollars. At Amazon, for example, you can find it for 270 dollars with free shipping. About the same price of a complete CH Products set or a Cougar + Pedals pack.
Valthonis Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 That's too bad, looks like they haven't had a software update since sept for the Logitech G940. As for mapping buttons/profiles, I'm not too hardcore that I can't go into the game and just map all of the buttons I want by hand. Is the profile one of the bigger issues or is it plagued by a lot more? I read about the "slop" feeling in the middle of the stick, again, coming from cheap joysticks I probably won't notice the difference, but again, not an excuse. Just sad, I sorta had my mind made up about it, now I have to re-think it. Valthonis Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I'm currently using a Saitek X52, non-pro, just feels very loose in the middle.
