My Fing ID Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Tried searching but couldn't think of a good way of phrasing the problem. This problem happens with both mouse look at TrackIR, can't remember if it's a problem with joystick view hat but I think it is. What happens is the ability to look lags. The simulation is running just fine. This also seems to happen most while I'm on the ground, at ramp start, after starting the mission. I'll be able to flick switches and such, but if I try to look around, say, with the mouse, the view won't move for a anywhere from a half a second to a full 10 seconds if not longer. This doesn't last the whole time, or atleast I don't notice if it does. Usually seems to clear up when I'm in the air though not completely. The problem wasn't so bad when I had the mouse because I'd just ignore it, but now with a TrackIR it's painful. I'll look left and the screen will freeze. Next thing you know I'm chasing switches every time the screen updates. Anyone know what it could be? Like I said, works on both mouse and TrackIR. I'm using TrackIR 5 and a X52.
104th_Crunch Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Sounds like hard drive access. Does your HD access light blink much when you look around? Do u have a small amount of RAM and/or old hard drive?
My Fing ID Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 I have 4 gigs ram and the HD seems fine. the game itself doesn't lag in the least during theses "look lags". Only the look lags behind.
159th_Falcon Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I suspect your CPU is the one to blame here. When you look forward when flying everything is just fine because the view doesn't change that much. Though when you move your view, your CPU, needs to load all units that are in the area your now viewing. This can cause lags. The reason that it seems to occur more on the Farp is that you move the view around more to find all the switches. Depending on what GFX settings your running now you could try to edit your options.lua file to reduce the CPU load. (make a backup first and use NotePad++ to edit it) One option that uses alot of processing power is the water detail. If its set to 2 or 1 try setting it to 0. Should improve things quite a bit. For a more detailed explanation on the options.lua file take a look at the following post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=760032&postcount=4 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Distiler Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Defragment your hard drive. Be sure you installed motherboard drivers (chipset and SATA, if applicable). This will help stutters when looking around. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
My Fing ID Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks ill have to try this stuff out when I get home. I'd also like to add that when the view stops moving, the right light (my left) on the TrackIr goes out. Like I said though this happens with mouse as well and the game is still running seemlessly, no game lag, I just can't look around.
MackTheKnight Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 If you have track-ir plugged into a USB hub, remove it from the hub and plug it directly into your computer... Track-ir doesn't like hubs, in my experiance... It's just a hunch though. -Mack
Woots Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) 3 times I've had to get out of the game and reinitialize track IR for the same reason. I'm not sure if this is what you're describing, but my track IR would act as if my head were in molasses - verrrryyyyy slow response.getting out of the game and rebooting track IR would fix it. Every time, it was the result of hitting too many F keys when cycling thru exterior views. So I've at least demonstrated there is some goofing mode where track IR response is very slowly and that it is possible to trigger it. Didn't check how the mouse behaved. Maybe you're in this mode by default? Edited January 5, 2010 by Woots [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FOXFIRE TWOONE Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Make sure there is not to much light, or reflecting light onto your TR or your head piece. That also causes the kind of problems you are having. VMFA117_Poko Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Unplug trackir from usb port and plug it into another port. Restart TIR software.
EinsteinEP Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 The TrackIR "Precision" feature can appear to be "look lag" if you're not expecting it. (Woots, this sounds like what happened to you). Personally, I don't use the feature so I disable it in the TrackIR control panel so I can't accidentally activate it. Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.
My Fing ID Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 This isn't a TrackIR isolated ordeal. It happens when I use the mouse look too.
