iaylmer1 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi, I am noticing that the world outside the helo is shimmering. What can cause this effect and how can I eradicate it? I am using the following: Vista 32 bit Home premium Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz x 2 ATI Radeon X1550 2 Gig DDR 2 18 x Dvd Writer I have disabled the Catalyst AI as the sim wouldn't run at all with this option on. I have rolled back the driver as well, as when I am on the welcome screen it is blank, apart from the buttons, there are no headers and no image of the helo. All suggestions welcome and thanks for your help. IAN
Tez Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I would suggest to try another ATI drivers version. Don't forget to uninstall previous drivers before installing new ones. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] =653=Tez
TenBlade Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Use Driver Sweeper to clean out remnants of previous driver installs. They may linger and cause issues on new driver installations. iaylmer1 Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Right, done that and no change on the welcome page front. Shimmering graphics seems to have gone though.
delevero Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) one other thing that could be the problem is if your graphic card is not pushed hard enough into the pci express slot and fit perfect or the monitor cable have become a little loose either were you connect it to the graphic card or where you connect it to your monitor.. and another solution is for exampel if you run the video game freefalcon 5 with the nvidia 295 and the last 2 - 3 new drivers then the game will crash and make your screen shimmer until you either logoff or restart.. what im saying is that maybe you have run some software that have made your video driver "crash". But i belive its a driver issule that you have, properbly it have become defect.. Edited January 15, 2010 by delevero
iaylmer1 Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 The shimmering has been resolved, its just I don't have the graphics for the welcome screens. All else seems ok.
TenBlade Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Seems you´re not welcome, then?! Just kidding, mate ;-) I´d live with it. Gigabyte X58A-UD5, i7 950 @ 3.96 GHz w. joker68 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 The shimmering has been resolved, its just I don't have the graphics for the welcome screens. All else seems ok. Please, can you point me what version did you use to solve that? I'm using the 10.6 and having A LOT of shimmering, driving me crazy to fix this. The card is brand new and this is the first ATI driver that I use (I was on nVidia before). Thanks.
slug88 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 joker, using the forum's search function and look for threads dealing with "NoCloudShadows". There is a NoCloudShadowsMod out there that I bet will fix your issue. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
luckybob9 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules/Downloads/fileuploads/NoCloudShadows.zip try this. Quick search brought this up. i think its FC2 compatible? i would check first though. joker68 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Thanks slug88, but unfortunately it doesn't help with the citie's shimmering. It helps with the flickering at the mountains (wich I had in BS). I don't know what to do... I guess I will need to try every single ATI driver out there to see if this problem is 10.6 related. Do you use an ATI card? If so, if you don't have this problem with cities, can you tell me which driver version are you using? This is my first ATI card, so I'm pretty noob about ATI driver issues...
slug88 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Don't have an ATI card, can't help you with the city shimmering. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
joker68 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Nevermind, got the 10.5 drivers and the shimmering is gone. Since this is my first ATI, I almost sent it back... guess the drivers aren't so good as nVidias... let's hope 10.7 gets better. :)
AkeR Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hey all! I would like to know is this a known muliplayer bug (other aircraft) ? Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
