Permit Crash Recovery ON

Unlimited Fuel OFF

Unlimited Weapons OFF

Immortal OFF

testing, return to base and getting a new shopper:

I autostart, go hover at 80mtr, fire off dozen missiles till empty

land

autopowerdown

hit

"Tab - RCtrl - RShift" : "Get New Plane - respawn"

nothing happens?

hit escape, "Recover" is blue, game is paused, can only Quit.

what am I missing

Recover from Crash:

I also missed the Farc badly once, beat up the BS (hit the truck, on fire), am in the grass, doesnt take off anymore, I hit Escape, 'recover' is Blue again, nothing happens when I hit it, game is paused, and the only thing I can do is Quit

So when does 'Recover' work?

What do I do to get a new shopper?

Fairly sure that the chopper needs to be actually be destroyed to get a new one. even sitting on fire in the grass aint gonna cut it. eject and then try it. i think thats the way that it works anyway

Note that the mission designer can force certain settings in the mission design - for example force Permit Crash Recov off.

I have been following threads concerning 'laser burnout':

"Well guys, whether it'a feature or bug - for me doesn't matter at all anymore.

No matter what I do trying to save the life of the laser, after 2 and a half loads of Vikhrs the laser just goes mad.

So my simple solution to that - I fly once - 12 Vikhrs, come back - rearm - that's another 12.

On my second rearming I simply change the heli (RSh+RCtrl+Tab - engines off - parking brakes)

and after full startup procedure I go again and with my new laser - blast whatever is left on the field .... Simple, easy - even gives time to go to the toilet and refresh.

so to avoid laser burnout, I want to do what he does .. but Im doing something wrong

???

EDIT:

perhaps there's no notification you got a new chopper, it's just fixed and rearmed??

Yeah, there is no indication that you get a new plane. You can make one though :P

Close the door, and keep it closed during the shutdown. It should open by itself when you "get" a new plane :)

Try it out! dont know for sure wether it will work..

nope

I can get a new one when I Eject

when I shutdown with 0 missiles, I shut down, restart, still 0 missiles

???

That's supposed to happen, you will find that you are not refueled either. Think of it as simulating ground crew repairing your aircraft, rather than being given a new aircraft. If you need to rearm/refuel you'll need to do so via the groud crew comms as normal.

I didn't think laser burnout was enough damage to get the ground crew to repair your chopper... I always go to a hover about 10m over the pad and then drop the collective to zero so that I make SURE I break something.

I'm sure I've landed with no damage apart from a knackered laser before and been repaired. Of course it's possible there was other damage I was unaware of.

I tried that, works, but I think this method too st*pid to comtemplate further use

I'd rather see a DCS patch that does:

get_out_of_chopper/request_fix_or_replacement/notification_that_such_is_the_case/climb_onboard_(replaced_or_repaired)_chopper/request_start_engines

seems to me

Still the same problem, now with a 'ligitimate' fail:

land back om the Farc with 0 missiles and a 'shkval fail'

autostop, door opens, parking brakes

hit Tab+RCtrl+RShft

autostart, still 'shkval fail'

WHATS HAPPENING here?

thx

Are you sure you're waiting at least 3 minutes after shut down?

What is the Tab+RCtrl+RShift for?

The repair process is automatic, you'll have a fixed up chopper 3 mins after shutting down as long as you land on hard standing at an airbase or a FARP with the required units.

well, thats information that throws me off:

DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_real_eng.pdf General:

Tab - RCtrl - RShift <> Get New Plane - respawn

If <recover> gets you a new Spawn after you totalled or died

and 3min on the Farp gets you a repaired chopper

then what does this <Get New Plane - respawn> do? :(

(cant test, Im off now)

perhaps its a cheat when there's 'no required units'??

'respawn' would also suggest a breakoff (in midair? when crashing?) of the present game and 'respawn'-ing

well, Ive tried that, nothing happens

????

EDIT:

in the logic of the game <Get New Plane - respawn> prob is the command that does an <ESC> <Recover>

EDIT:

and thats what it does, a respawn when crashed, dont have to hit <ESC>

There are other issues with the game which are not "repaired" after shutdown&3 minutes wait&etc.. . So this 10meter crash (without load) is a good tip. Thxs.
