SeaFoam Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 So I got my eyefinity setup running spread across 3 screens in landscape mode, but the problem I am running into is the cockpit is 'zoomed in' - I was hoping that it would be like one monitor and the two side monitors would be more peripheral vision (side glass). Right now I can zoom out only to the point where the HUD takes up the entire center screen and the two side monitors don't really do anything. It says the aspect ratio is 4.3 - if I change it to 16:10 (1680x1050 on all monitors) it looks weird, very fisheye.
Total Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I'll post my configs when I get home. You're going to have to put in an unusual looking aspect ratio, but it will work wonders. I'll post a list later on. To give you an idea, my aspect ration is 5.33333(and some numbers at the end I can't remember) to run at 3840X720. The native on my three 20" monitors is not supported by the TH2G. You could try 4.000000119 and see how that looks (that number I DO remember lol)
SeaFoam Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Can I just enter that in the game or do I have to go in and edit the config file? I might slap in my extra video card this week and see if I can't get my instruments running on it.
zangler Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) On my eyefinity setup I have to put the desktop into mt 3x1 setting (5040x1080 have 22" monitors) then in the game I can select that resolution and then choose 3 screens or 3 with shkval and ebris. When I do it this way then it auto selects the right aspect ratio and don't have any weird zooming or distortion. I hope that is clear. If not I will be happy to explain in more detail or give screenshots. Forgot to mention I have an ATI 5850 using latest drivers and ccc software. Total Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 @SeaFoam, you enter it directly ingame. Zangler's method may help you out as well.
TenBlade Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Got same issue, tried using the SGU software to optimize for 5040x1050 to get some distance to the HUD. But that pounded my frame rate down to ½-1 fps. So I opted for the close up view in the cockpit, but with the numeric "/" button I can pull back a bit. And using TrackIr it´s actually not so bad. I just put in the above mentioned resolution in the settings, without letting SGU making a mess of everything. But manually entering an aspect ratio sounds interesting, will try and fiddle with that. Total Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Here's a vid of my view, remember, I have to run a 3840x720 resolution since my 1600x900 monitor native is not supported by the TH2G. 1680X1050 users should have a bit more on the vertical side.
SeaFoam Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 See now that looks sweet - what I was looking for. I was actually contemplating using my HDTV for shkval and abris that's mounted above on the wall and picking up a trackir. Excuse the mess, I just put the third monitor in and trying to finish the room remodel.
SeaFoam Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 I tried the two aspects that you posted earlier and still getting that problem :(
Total Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 (edited) Here is a screenshot of my settings (notice it's set to 1 monitor and full screen is unchecked): This is reflected in the options.lua file. Look in ....\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua You will need to open this in Notepadd ++ or equivalient to edit it directly. PhoenixBvo Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Nice topic. Cool setup Seafoam! And awesome videos. That is what you need for the ultimate situational awareness. A question regarding Eyefinity: I just bought a new rig with an HD5870. With it comes a 1080p (16:9) 24" monitor (could have gone much bigger of course, but my resources both spatial and financial are limited :smilewink:). I already had a 1280x1024 19". As it turns out, the height of both monitors is almost equal. Is it possible to get a second 1280x1024 and use that in an Eyefinity setup with Black Shark? SeaFoam Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 You can use different size monitors, however they will all have to be set to the max resolution of the lowest monitor. In this case you would have to have all three set at 1280x1024, don't forget that you will have to get an active DP>DVI adapter to hook up the third screen.
PhoenixBvo Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Thanks for that answer SeaFoam, although it really sucks to have a 16:9 screen running at 1280x1024... I guess I'll have to wait and save some extra money then :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] CPU i7 4970k @ 4.7 GHz RAM 16GB G.Skill TridentX 1600 ATX ASUS Z97-PRO DSU Samsung 850 PRO 256GB SSD for Win10, Plextor M6e 128GB SSD for DCS exclusively, RAID-1 HDDs GFX Aorus GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Xtreme Edition, ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q, 27" with G-Sync, Oculus Rift CV1 HID TM HOTAS Warthog + 10 cm extension, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR 5, Obutto oZone My TM Warthog Profile + Chart, F-15C EM Diagram Generator

Just starting a mission from Minerlanyevody in parking and comparing the initial FPS you get in both modes would be enough. Just trying to understand the performance difference between Eyefinity and Softh, looking forward to the 6 edition. Thanks!!! I have noticed no performance drop at all between single and triple screen, to put it in perspective... My single 5870 runs Aliens vs Predator in DX11 mode at 5040x1050 with all options (tesselation, ect) on smoothly. I can test it out, won't be until Monday (I have to work all weekend).

Ah well I think the card will eat through DCS at any resolution. My concern is if Eyefinity eats up CPU resources than can reduce the DCS framerate. With Softh I end up with about 1/3 of the single screen fps. Too bad you have to work on a weekend, that's simulator-holy-time!! DCS runs very smooth for me - maxed out frames actually, I don't have a typical machine though. i7 920 @ 4.2 (Megahalem Black) EVGA X58 SLI LE 12gb GSkill Trident 2000 2x 640gb WD Caviar Black - RAID 0 XFX 5870 Corsair 800d 3x Dell 2209wa monitors in Eyefinity
