Awesome work T-Bone. Seriously. I think its the best terrain mod I've seen so far. The mesh resolution is nearly perfect.

I don't think anybody would complain about a GB or two for such a quality terrain. However could that mean problems for 32bit systems and available address space later on?

There will be two versions, one with FC2 resolution terrain and one with the higher resolution mesh. Obviously the high res one will look a lt better since it has four times more detail.

After switching the display to my Samsung TV, I decided that the terrain colors needed some more tweaking. Here is the result:

Great work! The new colors look better. I`d like to see that japanese F-15 over japanese terrain too :D Maybe after you finish the Manchuria project you can expand the map a little bit to the east? :P

All the terrain satellite/mesh data is sitting on my hard drive right now as a flyable but useless mesh without any airports or buildings.

 

I'm waiting on the new terrain tools at the moment so it can adapt the new terrain capabilities that will be in A-10C.

 

I'm also going to look into tweaking colors a bit more.

FYI I'm considering putting this map on hold and working on a Pakistan map since the object count is lower and the available satellite imagery is easier to work with (less clouds). Also the setting is better for A-10C. Another possibility is Kazhakstan.
