Tuna-Salad Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I've had black shark since the day it was released and have NEVER had problems targeting or firing a missile. I got on for the first time in a while and no matter what I cannot fire a missile. I have the laser on, ground moving target, the correct pylon, master arm is on, target box is on the target, but yet i cannot lock. I slew over the target and lock (or not) but cannot get the TA and C to appear for release. I've done this 100's of times before without incident and it's really beginning to piss me off. When I try to lock all I get is a brief NA flash. I am within the parameters for the launch. Also I think this might have to do with it... when I select cannon, after having a target locked and selecting cannon.. rather than stay where the target designator is, the cannon follows my head movements on track IR. I know this is an option to select but I did not toggle this option and am again doing nothing different than the other 100 times. I re-watched the tutorial to see if I might be missing something, but was not and was able to lock targets without problems in instant action doing nothing different than how I was doing in the campaign and shooting range. I always do a manual start in the same order so I know I didn't miss anything or do anything out of sequence.. so what the hell is going on? I will also put a screenshot here of the cockpit to see if Im missing anything I have also checked my keybindings to make sure nothing is out of place but nothing has changed since my last flight.
Speed Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Not to mention that you have the weapons system in auto, and in the screenshot that includes the HUD, you do not have the target inside the Vikhr reticle. Weapons sys should be left in auto unless u need an out of range shot, or if you want to use HMS gun tracking while using vikhrs also. Mustang nailed it - Automatic tracking/gun sight switch (key P) won't let u fire vikhr if the gun is slaved to the HMS Edited February 26, 2010 by 26-J39
EtherealN Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Now be nice Speed - he took the screenshots to illustrate cockpit switch positions for review. It's not the end of the world if he, between noticing the issue and deciding to take a screenshot, didn't bother keeping the target centered... We should be quite happy he took screenshots at all - many people think they'll get fast and easy help without giving anything to analyse. ;) And of course the weapon panel should be in Auto. Speed Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Weapons sys should be left in auto unless u need an out of range shot. Which is often enough to make me just leave the weapons system in manual most of the time.... I've had enough of going in on a close pass with rockets, lining up perfectly, and then nothing happening because I left the dang thing in auto. No, I had a valid point. I've seen some people who LEARN weapons employment with the weapons system in manual mode by DEFAULT. If the OP learned to operate his weapons this way, then forgot to switch the weapons system from auto to manual, he definately would have been confused as to why the weapons system was preventing him from firing, as he had only ever learned to use it in manual mode. EtherealN Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Range in the picture you remarked on was 2.0 km. So for a Vikhr shot, the panel being on auto is a problem... why? ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

Keeping the target centered doesn't matter in this case as the system will not lock on to anything and I am well within parameters for launch.
Tuna-Salad Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 It was the AT switch i was missing.. geeze I spent a good amount of time on that issue for something so small... lol never done that before......
EtherealN Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Hey, it could be worse. You could be trying to compile some code on a buggy compiler that didn't spot that one of your colons should be a semicolon. When you skim through thousands of lines of code to find something like that you want to kill yourself. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
