Distiler Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Check the options again and see if you have the one enabled that says to use your (realistic mode) preferences in all missions. I'm pretty sure this si exactly what this guy is looking for and has overlooked (options -> gameplay -> "use these options for all missions") Also, to pan the camera, use atl+c to switch between mouse modes when inside the cockpit. Veers Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Really? After 38 minutes of hard effort, you feel that you've exhausted all possibilities? I don't think simulation mode is the right mode for you. I never once said I exausted all possibilities but thanks for your insightful response, you sure were a great help. Thanks to Boulund. It was a simple lock of my mouse. It was resolved by L-ALT C. Thanks to eveyone else but Einstein, thanks for your efforts and training missions. Einstein I hope you don't work in the public service sector cause you would suck at customer service!
Nate--IRL-- Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Veers I do think you have a valid request for a new feature of A-10 warthog. An instant free flight mission with the option of a hot or cold start up available from the main menu. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Frederf Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Flight and full system start up are two very distinct training goals. I would accomplish moderately confident flight first and then worry about the cold start procedure. As for the process... play a cold-start mission in windowed mode with the PDF manual open to that chapter. Follow exactly what it says. Do it 10 times in a row. Without the game running try writing down the process in your own words (as detailed as you need) and then try cold starting from your own notes. Make mistakes, flip the wrong switch, figure out why something didn't happen the way you expected. Or if you want I can meet up sometime over a Ventrillo or similar chat and walk you through it ^>^
Veers Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Frederf, I did something very similar, I wrote down three pages of just the cold start up procedure in my own hand writing, pausing the demo after each instruction to make sure I got it right. Ya, I missed one or two on the first go around but now I have a full list of the start up pro. I have no trouble following protocol and love instruction, opposite to what Einstein had to say about me. I like your suggestion of flight vs. full system start up but in my mind, if you can't start the KA 50 then you have no business flying the KA 50. I want to play this sim as realistic as possible as I truely feel this is the best sim out there when it comes to heli's. I understand that most heli pilots come from fixed wing as my dad flew heli's for Canada and became an instructor. I know the basics of flight, now I want to know the basics of heli operation and management. This sim is the best I've ever seen in my forty years and I plan to soak up every minute of it! Thanks for your advice, I look forward to everyones support on this as I have just discovered DCS: BS. Cheers.

An instant free flight mission with the option of a hot or cold start up available from the main menu. Nate I'm not so sure. There's a tonne of things that would be practical to have accessible directly from the main menu - so many things that a menu with all of them would be extremely impractical. What could have helped, possibly, is a slightly more clear description of the Shooting Range mission, since that one had the features requested. Dethmagnetic Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Personally I use the Shooting Range mission as my training mission. There's plenty of "dummy" targets to shoot at, and you can easily adjust the mission to work on whatever you want to (night flight, group tactics, etc.).
