Mr_Burns Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Luckily I wasnt shot as much as I feared. I dont have anything against Russian Jets, I agree the change from US jets is a pleasant one and the Kamov is an awesome helo. Fact that they are working for the Russians and ED is a Russian Company makes sense, I thought with WAGS and the UK address they were a UK based company. I play OFP2 and the user made mods and addons are awesome, something like that for Lock On would be cool.
RedTiger Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 No one has yet to mention this, but Lock On is the successor to the Flanker series. ED, as a company, has already long been involved with simulating the Su-27, Su-33, and MiG-29.
Total Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Not discounting that in the least and, the Flacon fans are gonna hate me, but Lock On has long since been my favorite ever since I had a PC that could run it. Flanker was one of my earliest fav's. With the talent ED has though and the fact that they branched into US aircraft with Lock On, it would be a great addition to see some other "non-super power" nations aircraft represented. T-Bone, I suggested the Mirage F-1 simple because it may be easier to obtain declassified technical data on that aircraft. Remember, ED will only release aircraft they can get the tech data for. I would imagine the ALA have a pretty tight hold on the specs of the Mirage 2000 :D
Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I would imagine the ALA have a pretty tight hold on the specs of the Mirage 2000 I don't know, really. The Mirage 2000C was introduced in early 80's, and it's being either upgraded to Mirage 2000-5 or replaced by Rafales, so l'Armée de l'Air releasing data about it is as possible as VVS giving away data for MiG-29 and Su-27, or USAF releasing information about F-16, as they were all introduced around the same time. I'd love to see a Mirage in DCS, it's a really marvelous aircraft, beautiful and very capable. S'il vous plaît, give us a Mirage to fool around with :D
Total Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Wish I had fond memories of the Mirage tho... Lost a few friends on the USS Stark from a couple of Exocet missiles fired from and Iranian F-1. I worked in electronic warfare and, from then on out, I twitched every time I saw that Cyrano 4 radar pop up.
T-Bone Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 So right now we can model: F-16A F-16C F/A-18A Early Mirages With some Mirages and F-16s modeled we can create other theaters such as the UAE, India, and Taiwan. Also with the F/A-18A we could model the Austrailian Air Force and fly against Indonesian Su-27s and F-16A's, a good setup for an East Timor map :) More planes + More maps! Napa Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) It all depends on the technical data they can get their hands on. And if they don't get their hands on any "technical data", there won't be a simulator. And after they have in their hands a military contract they need approx. "9-10" months to produce the simulator plus the amount of time to produce the Military Contract simulator. I assume ED is understaffed but they do have a lot of partners. Total Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Hey, all good things are worth waiting on. I'd rather have a sim modeled around accurate data than guesses ;) So right now we can model: F-16A F-16C F/A-18A Early Mirages With some Mirages and F-16s modeled we can create other theaters such as the UAE, India, and Taiwan. Also with the F/A-18A we could model the Austrailian Air Force and fly against Indonesian Su-27s and F-16A's, a good setup for an East Timor map :) More planes + More maps! Actually, if they could get their hands on the tech data and release models for the following aircraft: F-1 Mirage F-4 Phantom II F-14 Tomcat FT-7 F-7M SU-24 F-5 - then we would pretty much have access to the IRAF (Iran's air force) arsenal of fighters. Even though the IRAF has some MiG-29's and SU-24's, their aircraft of choice are the Phantom and the Tomcat. So, just including those two in the IRAF variants would add another element to possible political theaters :)
T-Bone Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Most of those are 3rd generation aircraft, so I don't know if they'd be any fun going up against the badass 4th generation F-15C's  I think the Su-24, F-14, and Mirage would be fun though. Total Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 It's not always reliant on the aircraft though. Good pilots working together and working strategically can overcome some pretty tough odds ;)

Booger Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 ...if you are a true aviation enthusiast, you will enjoy simming with any well modelled aircraft, regardless of country.... A thousand times, this.

They even managed to shoot down F-14s lol The MiG-21 is truly legendary.
