There has been nothing mentioned of the next module being a multi role aircraft. Only that it will be a "very popular" American fixed wing aircraft.

if next simulator will be a F16 I think Most of falcon users can buy this product. And dcs will be monopoly in Modern Combat Simulation World. :)

For fixed wing I would love to see an AV-8 harrier. And my first choice for a helicopter would be the AH-1W Supercobra. Both of wich would fit well into the CAS enviroment DCS has created for us, And there are sure to be less classified components on these older airframes to make it easier for DCS to give us a complete sim

If you like the Harrier, there's always Jet Thunder, which will feature both the Harrier and Sea Harrier.

Until DCS has a dynamic campaign that is similar to or better than the one in Falcon, that is not gonna happen.

Customer feedback in a poll where three of the four aircraft were completely out of the question? :P

If its a Hornet, I think its going to be a legacy Hornet.

Non-super hornet is OK, as there's always VRS Superbug.:megalol:

A lot of people keep saying the F18. A few say that the F18 would be too difficult because of carrier ops.

Why cant we have the F18 without carrier ops? Countries fly the F18 without carriers. We can always get a carrier module later as an add-on.

Would be nice.

My wish list would be F18( carrier ops or not ), AH64, F16, F15 in that order, but I would take any of them...

I personally think it will be the F15 or F16, with my money going on the 16 ( single seat, multi role, many countries fly it ).

Great training contract for the Air National Guard and a VERY popular jet with the sim crowd. How many Falcon fans would love to have the F16 done with the DCS sauce on top?

But... how many Falcon flyers passed on a bird like the DCS A10? I hope not a lot. EVERY sim fan should buy a DL copy now and the boxed version a few months from now. I will. If a company like this is putting out products like FC, FC2, Black Shark and now A10, then we as sim fans NEED to support our hobby and genre. Think of it as an investment in your sim future. Put away $2.00 a week until the boxed version comes out and then get it. We NEED guys like the DCS crew. I long for the days when I can walk into a store and have shelves lined with all sorts of naval, air and land vehicles. It will probably never happen again, but the ones that are still doing it, and doing it well, we need to support.

I walked in to Best Buy the other day and I saw 1 copy of Lockon Platinum, 1 copy of VRS Superbug, 1 copy of XPlane 9 and 2 copies of FSX. That was it. I took them all and put them on the center shelf right at eye level with all the boxes faces front and all next to each other. Maybe some kid will see one a get his Mom to buy it and I just produced a new sim fan...LOL

Anyway, I am hoping for the 18, probably gonna get the 16 or maybe the 15 and hopefuly the 64 after that...

I would scoop it up in a second, but then DCS could make a fuel truck simulator and I would buy it ( as long as it had a 300+ page manual ).

Carrier ops are the point of having F/A-18.

Yeap, no carrier ops with F-18 is like no birthday cake to a birthday party

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Given how little data has been gathered from the performances of the F/A-22 and the F-35, not to mention that the exact workings of their avionics are locked up tighter than Fred Phelps' bunghole, I shall eat my shoe if the next aircraft modeled is any of the above two.

A little research will show that one of the US companies in association with ED and the MilSim versions of their software have been working on an AI engine used by the U.S. Military, CIA, DEA, etc.. that simulates unpredictability to an unprecedented scale. I can't say that this will be incorporated into DCS, but it is exciting to consider. No I won't provide links to it :) if Wags and those guys thought it was relevant they'd give us the links themselves. This is just my personal speculation.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Yeah, only good part of an F18 is the carrier. Without that, its not very interesting

Real Wish List.

How about the F-16C, or again with the F-15c, also maybe the F-15E. Stick with Air Force inventory. Falcon 4.0 was the only F-16 game and it really need a face lift...what the sim community really needs is a great F-16 flight sim. Lock on was great with the F-15. It was such fun to fly. Add it on. Or if you want to go old school lets go with the F-4. But my vote is for the F-16c. You guys have the technology and know-how, build it and we will buy!......Or Su-27 or any Flanker models. I work @ Nellis AFB. i know what im talking about....im a big flight sim gamer and Lock On was awesome...lets do it again.

Could someone give me a list of reasons why implementing carrier ops may potentially be impossible/improbable?

I mean, to my knowledge it worked in Lock On. Sure things are a bit different now, but if the devs put their heads together I don't doubt that they could pull it off.

There aren't any.

Not impossible, but IMHO improbable due to the required development time.

I think things are a lot different now :) . Even an early version of the F-18 would be a very complex aircraft to model to DCS standard by itself and for that to make much sense, it would also be necessary to model the complexity of the system it is meant to interact with - the carrier's onboard systems, deck facilities and routines as well as communication between pilot and LSO.

On top of that there is the matter of the environment - a sea that always remains perfectly calm doesn't provide a proper basis for realistic carrier operations.

In addition the sim currently lacks several important types of ships that would form the "naval system" a carrier would be part of, just as there is the whole debacle about the Black Sea itself being an improbable location for carrier operations.

@Alfa,

I agree with the fact that some of these things are problems currently, but look at Black Shark and A-10C. If they can COMPLETELY redo an entire flight model from a helicopter to a fixed wing airplane, why couldn't they add in something like physics for the water/carrier to add a little dipping up and down. Or add a new theater (i.e. like Nevada for A-10C) for the carrier to exist in?

I really could not IMAGINE how difficult carrier ops would be though, considering ED's eye for realism, it would be months worth of practice. Not that A-10C and Black Shark aren't already.

Honestly though it doesn't matter what they make, I'll be getting it. These sims are the most fun I've had on a computer since World of Warcraft first launched!
