jamesmca Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Hi guys, Just bought FL2 and I can`t find or use the `K` key command to dis-engauge the AOA-limiter to execute the cobra...please tell me I`m being really dumb and that it hasn`t been omitted! Cheers

jamesmca Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) Total bollocks! I can`t believe it! What is the thinking behind this? If any? I`m devastated. I loved just dickin` about doin` cobras and such!! Edited March 27, 2010 by jamesmca
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The Cobra has been disabled by default, because of it's highly over-simplistic implementation. It can be enabled in the defualt.lua file located in ...\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config\Input\Aircrafts\default\keyboard folder. WARNING - you should only modify this file BEFORE creating a custom control profile and only using a code editor like Notepad++. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. jamesmca Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Thanks very much....but in my opinion...what a stupid design flaw or deliberate omission even if it is simplistic! One of the features of the Sukhoi family that we all love in Lomac!
little-Dog Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 What disabled Cobra??? Why oO please patch it... Its needed... can´t belive it! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

theGozr Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 because of it's highly over-simplistic implementation Very true........... i wish it would be some how more demanding.. ( seeing cobra in every aircraft position is very annoying.... something more basic than the real but more than just one key stroke would be good.. :) Fly it like you stole it..
Lightning Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 :megalol: Do you think it would be more demanding if you had to press two or three buttons the same time to execute the cobra ? Even this would be easy to operate in a close air combat with programmable joysticks today. It still will be just one button press (which executes several buttons presses by macro programming ). best regards, GSG_9_LIGHTNING [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
theGozr Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 No but at list doing something with the joystick would add something.. Fly it like you stole it..
Silent Warrior Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 You mean to work, this should be done just after installing the game?. He would then have to reinstall? Looked to me like there's merely a great chance of mucking up your control-settings. So, it would be best to enable the Cobra FIRST, and THEN set up your in-game controls. If that requires a full reinstallation, I will personally find the closest ED-employee and kick him/her/it inna nads. :)
Nate--IRL-- Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 There's is a lesson here ED, just because a feature isn't realistic doesn't mean people don't want it. If it doesn't affect gameplay, it shouldn't be removed. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Thunderbird Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 i enabled it in default.lua but i still dont see it under flight control
McDaniel Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 :smartass: guys I can see that some are missing the cobra, but please keep it kind of civil, the ED guys did a good job. If you ask them in a nice way, they will help you, no need to kick or call someone stupid. BTW- The Kobra-Key is for Sissis which can not fly a clean turn!!!! Bucic Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 My advice for you is to try to do cobra in Su-25T with an advanced flight model (AFM). Here's what you do. You join an MP session and pick a mission where you are a part of a team. Preferably responsible for SEAD (taking out air defenses). Make sure you picked a mission which will require at least half an hour of flight time to target area. When already there level flight at low altitude and maintain airspeed of around 350 kph. The last thing you do (....) is pulling back on the stick hard and fast with rudder pedal slightly pressed. Beautiful. And emotions hard to describe... Thunderbird Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 i did cobra before it need to be below 400 yeah. and btw i got it to work
zakobi Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sorry if i sound stupid, but how can you make a cobra by pressing a button?
E61-v1T1 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) Personally, I do not claim anything to the ED team, on the contrary, I always be grateful for what they do is exemplary compared with other flight simulation equipment that have maintained their community without new projects, and programs of 1998. Then I leave a sample file "default.lua" edited in my own way, and has worked for me, to activate the "Cobra" from the "Flight Control". The first green called "defaultluabefore" it is the default file. The second call "defaultluaafter" file is edited by me. Both must be edited with the Notepadd + + to avoid problems. Edited: I leave here, my default.lua, I think that is the same for all, that work should be replaced also in the aircraft folder you want. HaHaHa I did that many times, without thinking about the Cobra!:cheer3nc: PS: Thanks E61 for the solution! |AMD 7800x3D | 64GB DDR5-3600| GTX 4090 | Virpil Stick, Collectiv, WW MIP, WW Throttle, MFG Crosswind V2 | Windows 11 64-bit | SSD Samsung | 4K LG Oled 48 | Oculus Q3 | Simlab based Cockpit
Bucic Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sorry if i sound stupid, but how can you make a cobra by pressing a button? You don't. By pressing K you just turn off the angle of attack limiter. 104th_Crunch Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) Have you guys tried flying a Su with no functioning AoA limiter? Just set it to fail at 0 minutes in the mission editor. You will be able until pull crazy AoA until you are blue in the face. Of course it will also be a b*tch to fly :) Edited March 28, 2010 by Crunch 1
Bucic Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Great idea! It would give "pure airframe" sensation. Given that it's based on the advanced flight model (AFM).
