I was playing around with cluster bombs on the A-10 in an effort to achieve large spreads. This led me to fly at greater altitudes, and I ran into some trouble. Is there a max range that the CCRP targeting pipper can lock on to the ground? Past about 9000ft or so I found that the only way I could ever get the CCRP pip to lock was by diving towards the target.

Didn't try yet in FC2.0 but there is a max range in FC1.x. Above a certain altitude or distance, you can't lock anymore. The only option is to lock before you reach that border and while gaining altitude, your lock stays locked.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Just place depressible pipper over ground location and and lock.

What I mean is that past a certain range (couple miles or so) and/or altitude, no matter how many times I hit enter to lock, it won't lock. If this is modeled that way, what is the max range is supposed to be. I understand there are different targeting systems, I'm just curious as I can ground stabilize the mavericks no problem while still miles from the target, but not so with the CCRP pip.

daylight MAV will follow ground spot, but won't lock at 7 nm, I noticed, my MAV went in the blue sky. Will lock target for missile track (blinking +) a lot closer only, like 3-4 miles.

IR MAV does a lot better
