majapahit Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 adjusting my buttons setup for F15 with a VRInsight MCP panel, so I've ~ 50 button 9 rotaries 2 trigger-switches and 3 onoffswitches, and a Saitek Yoke connected with ~12 buttons and fly the F15 with a MS FF Joystick with 4 buttons and Hat on the handle thats 65+ buttons and I use a Mod button, so I have 8 buttons and a HAT for my thumb and index :D and I have a TrackIR 4 so I can look around me :helpsmilie: and I still get shut down like a turkey in the F15 Quick Flight :helpsmilie: that is, when the Flankers start pouring in, in pairs under my right thumb and index, on the stick I have release-weapen/fire-canon/lock/canon-mode/vertical-scan-mode/weapontype-change & 'Threat missile padlock' and on the HAT Cockpit View and F5 Nearest AC (that's really handy) though <Num.-RAlt> Threat missile padlock, to look for missiles, doesnt do anything  (should it?) so when I'm 'surrounded' by 4 or 6 jets (or what's left of them) I am at let's say 7000ft I hear 'missile' (not quite sure which of the jets fired?!), what I do for instance is: I hit ECM, make a 50-90dgs right, drop counters, do 30dgs more, topsie turvie going for the ground & gaining speed, then do 45-60 back into my original heading (trying to cover my hot rear end, somewhat back into 'the missile'?), keep dropping CM's and then boom, I'm dead sometimes hit by a missile from the front or the rear, or the side, or from nowhere, even without hearing 'missile' (for a while at least) (I got killed dozens of times:music_whistling:) what am I supposed to be doing to survive this? I'm supposed to see / look for the missile? (how? only see AC on my RWR, I think) (is it possible to survive the quick flight, perhaps the incoming keep multiplying perpetually?) thx, mt | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Ven Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Surrounded by 4 or 6 jets, especially if they're Flankers, I believe your result is expected. In the Quick Flight, when Flankers start pouring in, my suggestion is to disengage, run away, and try to re-engage in BVR. Also try flashing the ECM instead of just leaving it on.
JonK Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 4-6 vs 1? Unless you're guns only you can expect to punch out at some point. Or you just might need more buttons. Nowadays missile avoidance needs between 70 and 80 buttons due to inflation.

Chibawang Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 It's funny because it was an exploit commonly used in FC 1.12. ECM now has a warm up period in FC2. Also, missile avoidance only takes two buttons: CTRL+E-E-E. ;)

Also, missile avoidance only takes two buttons: CTRL+E-E-E. ;) Well... what can I say. It still works especially since the AI's don't spam like humans do online and 15s is more than sufficient to break locks, restart, and repeat. Certainly better than keeping it on. Now whether it was an exploit in 1.12 or not... well... I believe there was enough debate.

JonK Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Have you tried re-assignming the key command? I've found several key commands do not work as advertised and had to re-assign them to get the desired function.
