TheMoose Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 http://www.ubuntu.com/ Wow linux has came a long way. Just wished that I could play DCS on it, then I would convert fully... Silent Warrior Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 So play Wesnoth on it! :) But, yeah, this is an especially interesting release due to the UI-change. Well, how big is moving the min/max/close-buttons from right to left, but it still caused what looked like the biggest Linux-controversy since Mono... And Mint 9 looks like it'll give you THREE options! (Traditional, Mac, new Ubuntu) I hope Plymouth works as advertised for me, though. Downloaded, burned, time for a clean reinstall. (Once I get home...)
Boulund Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 You've been able to put the window-buttons to left for a while now, it's just new that it is the new standard. Ubunutu is a very good operating system imo, use it on my non-gaming computers. It's a very good workspace environment I think, especially for my line of work (Bioinformatics). polomeister Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 so dcs won't work with ubuntu? i've got vista & it's awful, was thinking about trying out ubuntu.
Lava Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 The compatibility layer WINE lets you run windows games fairly well, but I doubt DCS:BS is capable of running well under Ubuntu. WINE usually slows programs down a bit. I just checked the AppDB for WINE and it looks like nobody's bothered to try FC2, or DCS at all, so who knows. DCS aside, Ubuntu's a great version of Linux! I've even gotten Civilization 4 BTS to run under 10.04 without any problems!
TheMoose Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 The more I play with Ubuntu, the more I fall in love lol. Too bad not a gaming OS, however for the rest, browsing, video, music, photos. It rocks. As for a virtual desktop. Top that Microsoft lol Antec 900 gaming tower, PSU: Corsair 750W, Q6600, Asus P5K, 8Gig Mushkin, Nvidia eVGA 280 GTX Superclocked 1G DDR3, SSDNOW200 Kingston Drive, TrackIr 3000+Vector, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Saitek rudder pedals pro, Sharp 42" inch LCD Aquo.
