ZQuickSilverZ Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I thought you guys might be intrested in this. Its kind of a keyboard that you can place the keys wherever you want. All the keys just kind of stick to a clear surface that you can put a template underneath. They use a mechanical adhesive. So you could theoretically recreate some panels, though you would have keys instead of switches. (like pvi800, autopilot channels, and weapons panel for instance) It comes with 25 keys that are fully customizable. Ergodex makes two versions. The ergodex version LOOKS exactly the same minus the little logo at the bottom as the CH version. However they use different software and are recognized by the computer differently. If your going to do multiple panels the CH version supports up to 16, the ergodex version supports only one but is less expensive. So obviously if your going to use several units for a custom cockpit you would want the CH version. Each unit comes with 25 keys. The Ergodex version is expandable to 50, Im not sure about the CH version. Ergodex sells stickers for the tops of the keys if you feel you need them though I think that the template underneath the clear surface would make that unneccessary. The unit is usb powered and the keys are wireless and require no batteries. This is a dream come true for people that want a custom cockpit but lack the technical expertise to build one. Karon Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I bought the CH MFP + 25 additional keys just a couple of weeks ago from Germany. I didn't find the best configuration yet, for now I control PRTz, PUI-800, UV-26 and ABRIS with it, plus some extra like the Track IR reset. Here is an image, sorry for the poor quality: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7467/20100513225533.jpg "Cogito, ergo RIO" Virtual Backseaters Volume I: F-14 Radar Intercept Officer - Fifth Public Draft Virtual Backseaters Volume II: F-4E Weapon Systems Officer - Scrapped Phantom Articles: Air-to-Air and APQ-120 | F-4E Must-know manoevure: SYNC-Z-TURN
TAIPAN_ Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Yeah I considered it too, I did put a touchscreen overlay and went with touchpal/touchbuddy instead. However I'm dissapointed in the touchscreen because: a) The layouts don't match the cockpit, so you don't know where things are. b) Servers now block export.lua, so the touchpal/touchbuddy don't work! So I will probably get the CH MFP, since I already have CH gear, and I can customise the layout. Only problem is finding a place to put it! I have throttle to left of keyboard, joystick to right, and I like my monitor close, up on the keyboard, because I sit back in my chair. Might have to get a stand next to my chair. Smoky Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I've been using one for years and it is great. I use it for driving sims, flying sims, etc. Everything. I purchased extra acrylic panels and buttons so I can easily swap out button layouts between games. I started making fancy backing sheets for each plane/sim but I game in the dark, with only a dim flashlight to light up the MFP and the dashboard panel I've made. So the backgrounds became useless. UNTIL, I discovered those pages that tell you how to use a refillable inkjet cartridge to print glow in the dark stuff. With that kit you can make some pretty nifty background and button label sheets that look like cockpit illumination. :D
dvarrin Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Problem with CH Products MFP Hi, I'm using a CH Products MFP in Flaming Cliff 1.12b and it works all fine. However, it Flaming Cliff 2, I cannot make it work properly. It recognizes only 2 or 3 buttons among the 25 available. I'm using the mapped mode. For example I have a button for the cockpit light which is assigned to the lower case "L" key. This one works, but for the NAV lights, I'm using the right control key + L. "RCTL l" in the CH Control Manager, but impossible to make that button respond in the game, but if I press the keys on the keyboard it works, so the mapping should be good. Any Idea? I first thought it was a limitation on the number of buttons available in the game, but as I'm using the MFP in mapped mode, it should have no impact. I hope you can help me :-(

Try changing from "RCTRL l" to LCTRL l" and see if that works. Remember to change in game keystroke as well.
