grandkodiak Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 do i have something set wrong or do waypoints no longer automatically update and change in route in fc2? also, the target area diamond in the a10 is always WAY off, another glitch? for example the first mission to take out the tanks when they pop smoke... the target area diamond will bring you do north almost over the ocean right at the sams past the airport, no where even close to where the tanks are being called for, the yellow smoke or the map in the briefing itself.
Smoky Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 They do update automatically if you fly right over the waypoint. But I never wait for that and cycle them manually anyway. Easier to stay on the flight plan that way (the A-10 I fly doesn't have the fancy route-following waypoint turn options that the Ka-50 has). Make sure you are in waypoint nav mode and not ILS nav mode.
roob Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 They update automatically but you have to be in NAV mode. As for the diamond. I think it's the wingman that calls them out and sets them on the biggest threat. When you fly the A-10 campaign you'll notice it's always set at the SAM sites. You have to spot the targets for yourself :) My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)

grandkodiak Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 ill check again but im pretty sure i was in nav. everytime i take off it just has me doing circles chasing the airport. the diamond i thought was a target area set up in the computer during preflight planning based on intelligence. atleast, thats how i thought it worked in the original lomac, id just follow the navs and id know i was in the right area when the triangle as along the route and things started to be fired at me ;)
nomdeplume Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 It definitely automatically cycles waypoints but you need to get quite close to the wp before it will switch to the next one (under 0.2 miles or so). Strangely enough, if you cycle back through the waypoints it will keep "completing" the one you just passed until you're about 2 to 3 miles from it. Also when you're not in nav mode, the wp cycle button will cycle through marked targets (diamonds).

grandkodiak Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 so once i am away from the airport and manually switch to next waypoint it changed automatically from 2 to 3 and then 3 to 4 after loitering over the targets. cannon accuracy is way different now it seems too! t72s are very tough now, you have to be right on top of them for enough rounds to land! and it seems you have to aim high. that brings me to the next question, whats the default key to change from hi to low rate on the cannon? its not what it was before, and i cant find it in controls. under weapons, the only thing that comes close was salvo mode? but that doesnt seem to change anything. thanks all!
nomdeplume Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I don't think it has different rates of fire... the only thing I recall reading here on that subject was that the original rate of fire for the A-10's cannon was too high and resulted in it being somewhat unreliable so it was reduced a bit. Not sure if the real A-10 has a selectable RoF or not. But I don't think it's present in the game if it does.
grandkodiak Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 oh it definatly does, check out pictures of the real cockpits, its selectable hi or low rate of fire. it was definatly there in lomac and fc too, cause first thing id always do before takeoff was set it to low!
roob Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 It's been changed in FC2. Can't select rate of fire, due to realism I think someone said. My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
TAIPAN_ Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 The taget markers are based on Intelligence. They keep coming even after wingman commits suicide by flying over SAMs. I think I must correct myself, I noticed these weren't coming up until the wingman noticed targets. I think just the queue remains after he is killed, which can be a long queue when there are alot of targets. Now there's a good reason to keep the wingman alive! Maybe I'll just load him with 2 TV guided or SEAD weapons, and other than that have him fly spotter for me :) Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
