christopher m Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Yes I am getting the same problem on a mission I have been working on (mostly I have been working on FPS and how to optimize them in mission making) It is an Su-25 mission and I have been getting the game freeze when I return from the mission and the plane automatically changes to ILSN mode It does not freeze every time but about 50% of the time, enough to be a real drag The mission does NOT freeze when I am in the Artillery zone with lot's of shells hitting the ground and FPS go down to 10 fps The game does NOT freeze when I use dense cloud cover (9) and FPS stay down around 15-25fps during the whole mission I've been working on how to maximize FPS and mission complexity at the same time Turning OPTIONS on and OFF to see their effect on FPS and also including more and less ground units/targets and their movements When I get the freeze the screen freeze's and will not even reboot I have to reset the computer to free it I 'am concentrating on the Su-25 right now so I don't have info on other aircraft My errors.txt is full of statements like all the other posts in this topic (help desk) My OPTIONS set are (scenes, visibility, textures on high) heat blur off, civil traffic on, water normal, labels on, full screen on, I run in sim mode and use sim G effects I have minimum mods: FC2 cloud and shadow mod, 6 DoF mod, and fc2 stock sound compression mod I have not yet modded the graphics.cfg but I have turned OFF force feedback and TrackIR in Producer.cfg I have a DualCore running @ 3gig and 4gig memory and I am using XP sp3 My Vid card is NVida GTS 250 with 1 gig mem What's your rig set up and your game settings ? Saeid Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 Yeah my friend it is quite annoying, it happens sometime when I finished a very hard camping mission and then I want to swith to ILSN to see the route for airport then it got freezed. it also happens for my like 50% of times. My system is: WIN7 32bit, Intel Core2 Qaud Q6600 @ 3.3 GHz, ATI Radeon 3870 512MB and 2GBs of DDR2 1066. I have all latest drivers. I am sure it is not my system, I run all other games with no problem. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] EMBEDONIX all about electronics!
Gonzo01 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Same problem here. It always seems to happen when I am switch between Nav and ILS mode. Sometimes I am cycle through the ILS and complete freeze. Happens about 30% of time.

I actually stopped using ILS mode at all because I'm scared of cycling nav modes. :( Mostly it causes the game to completely hang and not resume. I can Ctrl+Alt+Del and get to task manager, and it will be sitting at 25% CPU (1 core, I have HT disabled). It's happened twice tonight - but the first time it did actually resume after freezing for a few seconds. The second time I waited about a minute before giving up and killing it. Intel i7 920, GTX 295, Win7 x64.
Aliboy Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I used to have the exact same problem in FC1 I solved it by setting affinity using task manager to just one CPU for Lock-on. I have the intel i7 920 too but now in FC2 i don't have to do this but you could try it out. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Try and create a complete route for your aircraft with a takeoff, navigation and landing waypoints and you'll be able to cycle normally.

Try and create a complete route for your aircraft with a takeoff, navigation and landing waypoints and you'll be able to cycle normally. I definitely have a complete route for my aircraft (A10) - takeoff from ramp (Kobuleti), some navigation points, and then landing back at Kobuleti. I can most frequently reproduce it by returning to Kobuleti, landing and rearming (and in this particular case, repairing), then taking off again. If I cycle modes, it seems to lock up. Just before reading this post I had it happen again, and tried to create a simple repro for it but had no luck. In this repro, I started in the air just before Kobuleti, had a landing waypoint at Kobuleti, and another nav waypoint to the south. I landed, turned around and took off again, then switched nav modes a few times and didn't have any problems. I did however note that after departing, if I had waypoint 3 selected and toggled through to ILS and then back to Nav mode, WP 1 was now selected. Also, it didn't seem to be activating the "return" mode. So possibly the problem is related to having a complete route, and completing it, and then flying on again -- possibly the game is trying to find the next waypoint in the route and getting stuck? Will keep trying to find a reliable and minimalist way to reproduce it.
