bumfire Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 We're talking about oil company here. They've gone as far as tortured and murdered protesters, not BP, so I don't have high hope. Huh ?
dsobbe Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I'm skeptical of anything I read in the U.S. press. They have transformed from reporting news to creating, or at least sensationalizing, it. How many reports of world ending oil spills have we all read over the years. But, life go on. I'd like to write more on this. But, a storm knock out our lights and it's getting dark. I have to go and light a shrimp so I can see the keyboard.
jpm1 Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/aug/04/gulf-oil-spills-scientists-report seems the nature assimilated the oil , but the same disaster in more cold region would have been much more serious , something we need to remember if someday we hear about oil exploitation in the artic @ dsobe which place SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jpm1 Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 seems the oil is underwater 35 km long and 2 km wide (nightly news) , now investigations are underway to see the danger level edit : 80% of the oil may still be out there SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 uh-oh...again???? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11014645 No this is not the same oil rig. .

jpm1 Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 a tanker wrecked in Canada , no leaks detected , i'd like to say until when . i don't blame oil industry but seems because of lobbies no alternative research is put underway . when your see how far the plastic is used in our societies when oil will become to be faulty , i think we'll have a huge prob SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sticky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Whenever someone tries to research or make money on something that could be an alternative, the oil companies just buys them, its a very simple solution for the oil companies to combat alternatives, just buy everything you see as threat, the money is there so its np. Edit: I dont mean bribes, just simply buy the research or the company trying alternatives. Own every threat and stall. It will be financial. The technological inertia is going to make a sudden transition expensive and tax demanding for the average citizen. The middle class, that already endangered species is going to take the blunt of the assault again when leaders start looking for the necessary funds. .
159th_Viper Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Come ooon  WTH is happening in that gulf?!! Bottom-Line: Sub-par safety standards. Took Piper-Alpha for the North Sea safety standards to be brought to a reasonable level. Why are/were those standards not replicated in the Gulf? It saddens me that people are more often than not reactive in their actions as opposed to proactive......... Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Why are/were those standards not replicated in the Gulf? It saddens me that people are more often than not reactive in their actions as opposed to proactive......... I hear ya, out on the rigs where we are, before you can do ANYTHING, you first need atleast 3 different pieces of safety approval, safety safety safety is drummed into ya every single day. I dont like to say it, but if the same approach that we use here was used in the Gulf, maybe just maybe this would never of happened ? But, I spose that it takes a big accident for people to take safety seriously, hence the laws were not as tight as they are here post Piper A. Before Piper, we were the same, only interested in getting the oil and gas out of the ground to make as much money as we could as quickly as we could, thus safety took a back seat. I dont blame the US for its oil and gas laws, but they should of took notice after Piper and a few other rigs blew up. Edited October 15, 2010 by bumfire
