Sel94 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 O.K. so I'm good at flying but when it comes to the point where I'm out of ammo, I am horrible. Can someone help me out with a scenario, say, I'm out of ammo and low on fuel so I have to restock and get back up.(buttons would be nice 2) Also, I play mostly edited missions so do I have to put stuff in a base? As far as I know: for takeoff: start engines>taxi>flaps>ZOOM for landing>put down gear+flaps>land>now what?*sitting on runway*

EtherealN Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Yes, you are aware of the fact that you have a menu for radio commands, right? I don't have an english-language keyboard so it won't say the same thing on the key for you as it does for me, but it's to the left of the Enter key. Sel94 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 K thanks, I try but I didn't see. Does it magiacally give u fuel/ammo when you command them or does a vehicle come because I requested stuff but nothing came over to me and I didn't hear/see "copy" or whatever they say.
EtherealN Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 If you order a refuel, you'll hear the refueling pumps. Rearming will give you weapons after a copy. Did you land on a base that's actually owned by your side? Sel94 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) I think it was friendly. Also, I had my sound off so that might have been it. Thanks though. Also, so...how do you know/set friendly bases. :] Edited June 5, 2010 by Sel94
EtherealN Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Either have ground units at them, or have flights take off from them. Sel94 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 K thanks! BTW when you say have ground units at them....?
EtherealN Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Park a vehicle on the base area. For example, the basic functionality is that if the base didn't start as belonging to a side (through aircraft being based there), it can become owned by that side if that side has ground units driving to it or being parked at it. This allows scenarios such as supporting an offensive that is setting out to take over an airbase (or defending against such an offensive) and then either gaining the ability to rearm/refuel there, or losing said ability, depending on the specifics of the scenario. Sel94 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 "base area" meaning pretty much any part of the white area of the map when you look at a base, right?
nomdeplume Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Just somewhere "near" the airfield, doesn't have to be on the runways or taxiways. I'm not sure exactly how "near" is defined, but if you place a unit within a km or two you should be fine. Also, I'm not positive but I think you need to have your navigation system set to the correct airfield if you want to be able to use the facilities there. Basically if you radio that you're inbound and the airport name your character says is wrong, or you don't get a reply, you're probably set for the wrong airfield. Best bet for testing purposes is to start yourself in the parking area, engines off, with no weapons. Start the mission, open the radio menu (\) and request re-arming. That will definitely work. You can then try taking off, dumping your weapons, and landing again and taxiing off the runway and re-arm again. You can re-arm in FC2 with the engines on; you'll need to shut them down (and wait for them to spool down) before refueling.
Smoky Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I have landed at airbases that rearm but do not refuel. What is the controlling factor and how can I tell before landing if an airbase has fuel service? Or am I just doing something wrong "sometimes" so it seems like some bases have fuel service and some don't?
EtherealN Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Smoky, are you entirely certain that the engines are fully spooled down when you initiate refueling? Initiating at 1% engine RPM which on a steam gauge will look pretty much like 0% will still count as engines-on and cause them to not refuel you.
