Not really. What you are showing here is an open star cluster called the Pleiades.

 

This is what the Big Dipper looks like.

No that's not a big dipper

 

Big dipper is a lot higher, closer to Zenith. It different in shape and it's tail points towards little dipper.

Ages since we've had a thread about the Lockon night sky......

 

There was some discussion on the UBI forums back in 2004, and I seem to recall something a couple of years ago on this forum about emergency navigating using the stars at night, but I can't find it.

I don't know if it has been changed at all in FC2, but I remember that the Big Dipper, Polaris and all indeed present, but I felt it rather difficult to find them due to all stars having the same brightness (vs. for exemple ArmA II, where it is easier due to brightness being dependant on the particular star)

Where is that awesome FC1 video with the night time bomber intercept? I cannot find it (flankertraining.com ?) but here is a screen shot included in the download I have saved to my HD.
