mvsgas Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 AFAIK, In RL, there is no connection between the AGM-65 (any version) and the launching aircraft. Once fired, the video is lost. On the 65E, you could move the laser designator, but not sure what are the seeker head limitation. AGM-62, GBU-15 and AGM-130 have link connection to the aircraft and can receive mid course guidance, AFAIK HH62C3eyfPU To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Speed Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 HH62C3eyfPU Just curious, does that gay music play everytime you drop the GBU-15? mvsgas Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Just curious, does that gay music play everytime you drop the GBU-15? What music? That is a silent video, are you sure you are hearing gay music? Weird, I do not hear any sounds when I play the video :smartass: Does anyone else hear music? 159th_Viper Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Does anyone else hear music? Yeah - I'm hearing it. Just curious, does that gay music play everytime you drop the GBU-15? SmokeyTheLung Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 At the core of all precision guided munitions is a small and revolutionary device known as the "iPhone." This magical device uses gps and google maps to guide these dangerous weapons to target. As an added bonus the come preloaded with extremely "gay" playlists that are triggered by weapon release. So yea, you will always hear gay music when releasing these weapons... System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
GGTharos Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I see that you lack familiarity with the iPhone's resistance to receiving a good GPS signal and its legendary accuracy. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

SmokeyTheLung Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Ironically enough I posted that with my iPhone. System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Spartan1-1 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 My team controlled a laser mav, from a hog, in AFG. It's useful in that it can target anything, just needs a paint, and it's standoff is excellent for a 65. I would very much like to have them in DCS. Using mavs straight off the tgp would be great. Weaponz248 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 If AGM-65E was in the game all other mavs would be useless IMO. Laser is the most accurate MAV out there. It wont chase the sun and wont get confused on what it is suppose to do.
GGTharos Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Why would any other maverick chase the sun or get confused? There are simply situations for which the laser maverick is better, and allows more of the missile's aerodynamic range to be used. The 65E is not in the game because ED was not given permission to model that particular software version of the A-10C. Weaponz248 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 With our history of mavs alot miss. E/O chase the sun alot and IRs just flat out miss. MAVS are not as reliable as everyone thinks.
GGTharos Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 My understanding from US inventory statistical analysis is that the most 'miss' from mavericks tends to come from aborted sorties. Weapons that are launched will usually guide to their target. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Weaponz248 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Well from my experiences with MAVS they dont always guide after launch. We had one miss at the six o'clock position. It came off the rail and landed behind where it was fired from...
GGTharos Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Broken fin? Failed electronics or rocket motor? That stuff happens to all missiles. Laser mavericks won't be immune to it. jazjar Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 That means, we need a "real" datalink, not the SADL (iirc this is just a datalink for friendly groundunits and other fighters ... but position only. No targetinformation transfer). So you can launch your G-Mav and turn out ... nobody has to laser the target. kind regards, fire Thank you fire, you are right. the datalink we have right now can only display friendly ground and air units, not datalinked enemy ground and air unit like it should ( according to pg. 311 of the manual, and the JTAC operations handbook ) . This hopefully is still WIP and will be fixed for the final version. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
