The IFF function in the BlackShark sim is not functional as the subject has not yet been de-classified by the Russian Authorites.

 

Top Tip: Use bullseye calls, coloured flares or the Abris for SA and ID purposes.

Even if it did work it wouldnt really make any difference to the game. The Ka 50 does not (as far as I am aware) have an IFF interrogator (these are integrated with a radar), so it will only identify you as friendly to other units with an interogator, it wont allow you to identify others as friendly. You have to do that via the means suggested above.

Would be nice to have the switches functional even if they have no effect on the game engine, so I can feel like I'm doing a realistic checklist flow.

 

That's what I like about OpenFalcon ... configuring my mode-3 and setting the switches on fence check even though it doesn't make a lick of difference. Likewise for the radar altimeter, even though there's no people modeled that could get cancer from it.

The switch itself is functional. Feel free to use it to simulate turning the IFF on and off.

 

Simulating into a simulation? Indeed there is no spoon...
