I had spent my days off playing BS on my brand new comp and I take back what I had said regarding the graphics looking pastel. This is my first ATI card and the colors were so much more vibrant and vigorous I sat in awe for a bit when the game started. I then flew to the nearest open land, placed the ride in hover and gawked at the pretty colors I had never known were there because I was using Nvidia.

The bad is that I took a year off,no comp, and will have to relearn everything including landing without crashing. lol

My spec: i3 530, 4GB, HD 4670, WD 500 Black, Corsair 750TX, Win7 64 bits and Samsung BX2350 LCD. I know you may be dying because you just laughed so hard your nuts fell off the planet. Really, compare this with my old Spemron box in which the Sempron chip happens to be the most expensive and the only piece worth mentioning, this i3 + HD4670 is laser fast. :D

Did you happen get a new monitor to? Perhapse you bumped up the effects and detail levels a bit since your old PC and it's fully using the graphics effects now.

I went from HD4850 to GTX295 and noticed no difference in the colours.

You notice the pretty colours more when the sun is low to.

Yup. Brand new LCD monitor. I would fly around on high when I had my old machine and it didn't look like this. I think it's the combination of both the vid card and the LCD monitor. The colors are so crisp and alive it's like playing with bliss.

I haven't flown at dusk yet but will try it tonight. Thanks.

In that case, I don't feel so bad for channeling a large chunk of the budget from vid card to this monitor. :D Just curious, is it possible for a game to be made in HiDef?

PC games have been in High Definition for at least a decade. HD is simply a fancy word for a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD). If you have a monitor that supports that resolution (most 24" 16:9 monitors) you are actually playing HD. However, HD is relatively new for consoles and TV's (but not for the PC), because normal TV's have always been in SD (Standard Definition), which is (for the PAL region) a resolution of 720×576 split into two interlaced fields of 288 lines.

Although PC games have been able to do resolutions that you would consider "HD" it's only recently that textures and effects have started to catch up.

Also just to point out, now a days HD can refer to 720p 1080i and 1080p. Other standard resolutions are about, but they are what most people call "HD", with 1080p being "Full HD". It's mainly all marketing that though :).

In the end resolution isn't everything (the main part of the HD definition), you have to feed that hi res image with a quality picture for it to actually look good.

If you compare the KA-50 textures and model to one of the fodder jets in the mission editor you will see what I mean (the shark being the better model and textures).
