flyICE Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I made a the following post in Lockon forum, but I should post it here. I think iPad could function as a fabulous touch screen. I hope soon there will be software like touchbuddy that will make iPad useful for flight sims. I just installed FC 2.0 and I was overwhelmed by reprogramming so many keys into my X45. Last time I was doing it was a long time ago. I suddenly realized that my iPad is touch sensitive. And if someone can write a program to make it function as a MFD with touchable buttons, that would be fantastic. Given the size and resolution of iPad screen, it probably can display two MFDs side by side, or one MFD with a lot of extra buttons! Anyway, I'm not a programmer. Just a piece of thought...
ED Team c0ff Posted August 9, 2010 ED Team Posted August 9, 2010 Thought about it. But how many people will buy such app? And for what price? Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
flyICE Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 I for sure will buy the app, as long as it's not charged at an absurd price (>$15?). I just bought the Cougar MFD for $50 shipped, and this iPad app will be 100x better in terms of functionality. The Cougar MFD only has buttons, no screen. I hope you or someone may seriously consider it. iPad goes through Wifi, so it's just a server/client kind of thing to get it connected to PC?
Sov13t Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 iDisplay and Air Display are already able to use the iPad as a second monitor. Should be pretty easy to config touchbuddy for it. The problem is that it utilizes wifi and certain level of compression so I am not sure how well it will perform. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
flyICE Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Yes. Apparently there is a $10 app called MaxiVista that can turn iPad into a second monitor for PC. I just bought the app and will give it a try when I'm home (I don't have the right network to test it in my office). Currently MaxiVista doesn't support the touch screen feature of iPad, but it's said that they may implement that feature in future release. iDisplay and Air Display are already able to use the iPad as a second monitor. flyICE Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Well, I can now confirm that MaxiVista + iPad don't work for Leavu 2.1. Maxivista works fine, and I can use iPad as an extra screen, albeit kind of slow. Leavu works fine too if I only put those MFD/ADI windows on my real 2nd monitor. If I move those MFD and ADI windows to iPad window then the MFD display gets frozen or blank, while the ADI window becomes completely white blank. Don't know why, probably has sth to do with how Maxivista handles display on iPad? Since Maxivista currently doesn't support touch on iPad, I'd guess it will be also useless for Touchbuddy or Touchpal. Here goes my $10 for curiosity...:D
Panzertard Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Think we may have a Look at this: http://avatron.com/apps/air-display/ Claims to have beta-win Support & touch Edit: Sov13t already mentioned it, nice ;) The mind is like a parachute. PeterP Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 check this post - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=978157#post978157 there are tools that mirror the desktop on iphone/ipod and it's free
Druid_ Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 All of the Ipad second screen apps I have seen so far, suffer from lag, so if you intend to use it for a moving display of some sort then forget it. The reason being the compression that is being done. If some smart programmer from ED (or anywhere for that matter) wants to make a few easy bucks then he/she should get onto it, but ditch the compression. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
Highwayman-Ed Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I'd definitely shell out a few bucks (up to $15) for this kind of App, and to be honest buying an iPad is much more appealing than a touch screen monitor. 1 Intel i9-9900KF @5.2GHz MSI Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon 32GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR3200 RAM MSI RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio 40" Panasonic TH-40DX600U @ 4K Pimax Vision 8K Plus / Oculus Rift CV1 / HTC Vive Gametrix JetSeat with SimShaker Windows 10 64 Bit Home Edition [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
