cheezy Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I got the demo to lock on and I am impressed with it and want to purchase the platinum edition. My problem is my computer is crappy and can only run the game on medium/low. Will I still be able to run the real deal enjoyably on medium/low or will it be worse. Also a question abotu the demo: How to I follow my bombs/missles and pilot if I eject? Thank you for any help -Cheezy
nomdeplume Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I don't think there's a demo for FC2, so I guess you're talking about the original LOMAC. FC2 is based on a different game engine (the DCS engine used in Black Shark). I'm not sure how LOMAC compares to FC2 in terms of performance. I think it varies; some people say it runs better. My guess is that it'll be a bit more CPU-intensive, but not overly stressful on the GPU especially if you use lower settings.
cheezy Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Thanks, I might as well try it anyway, it's only like $20 at bestbuy.
TeeJay82 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 my experience is that demoes usually runs a bit better that full games Probably because its less content
Speedbrake Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 It would be helpful if you mentioned your CPU, RAM, and video card data???
Mustang Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 my experience is that demoes usually runs a bit better that full games Well not in this case, that demo is from a very early version on LockOn circa 2003, and it runs like **** :)
cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Sure here it is. Aspire m1201 Motherboard ATI Radeon 2100 Video Card Ram 2bg AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 4550e 2.3 Ghz
3Sqn_TomAce Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 You'll need Lockon Flamming Cliffs 2 if you want to mix it up and play online.
cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Just got it, shaky start with runtime error but that was fixed when I rean as admin and in compatibility mode with win xp
cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 It's weird lomac runs run on medium/low settings, while in fc2 even on low settings is extremely low on frame rates.
slug88 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 If you're running FC2 in XP compatibility mode, that could explain the low framerates. Normally FC2 should run smoother than LOMAC, especially on Vista/W7 systems. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 I'm not running fc2 in xp mode only lomac
nomdeplume Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Can you post your DxDiag info? Is your Radeon 2100 a separate card or integrated? The only references I've found online to it are referring to an integrated card. Might be interesting to see how much video memory it has. Normally the game is bottlenecked by the CPU, but it's possible your graphics card is weak enough to be the bottleneck on your system. If you have a second monitor or can run the game windowed, you can leave task manager running while the game runs and see what the CPU utilisation is like. Do you get a notable increase in frame rates if you look up at the sky, or fly somewhere away from cities/airports and other ground clutter?
RIPTIDE Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Sure here it is. Aspire m1201 Motherboard ATI Radeon 2100 Video Card Ram 2bg AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 4550e 2.3 Ghz That's a laptop. Your video card is integrated, and as such is very limited. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Not a laptop, desktop, that's the motherboard and everything, it's integrated. It might be that other thing in my computer say 2gb ram while dx diag say 1790mb(if it matters)cheezy dx diag.txt
EtherealN Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Why service pack 1? cheezy Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Will it help my computer and game? Cause I'll be really pissed if it screws something up :joystick: I don't feel like going through the effort, I'm getting a new comp in a few months anyway. Edited August 25, 2010 by cheezy
