GRoss Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Hey everybody! I've just (nearly) finished my 2nd campaign, 2nd mission - I've destroyed most of the vehicles, etc and was returning to base, to find that my landing gears weren't working anymore and around 200 metres from the landing pad, my engines just seemed to give up on me - not a ring vortex state (or however it's called), since I was going at around 150 kpm, and I was forced to eject, as the probability of doing an autorotation from 150ish metres on rough terrain with no landing gears and me flying, safely was INCREDIBLY low. :megalol: However, that is not the reason for this post... (event though 'tis a good story) After that happened, I decided to have a look at the replay, to see what has happened, however I was quite puzzled while watching it, as things seemed different - the number of vehicles and friendly choppers being destroyed, and the fact that after around 5 minutes of combat in the actual mission I was attacking a convoy of tanks on a road, while in the replay it showed me attacking that convoy alright, however another APC convoy magically appeared out of thin air.. ..what was even worse is what happened after - in the actual mission I went ahead to destroy some more vehicles and get shot by 1 or 2 APC rounds (which probably caused my later crash), however in the replay I got shot down by a Shilka, which I remember to have destroyed in the mission, and crash pretty much straight away, without ejecting - which did NOT happen in the actual mission :huh::noexpression: So I'm quite confused here right now, because aren't replays supposed to be, well replays? - thus replaying everything that happened in mission exactly?
zdXu Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Hey everybody! I've just (nearly) finished my 2nd campaign, 2nd mission - I've destroyed I guess there are minimum 15 campaigns for DCS-BS. So the 2nd campaign, 2nd mission of what? Edited September 3, 2010 by zdXu
GRoss Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 Oh.. umm - well I think there are only 4 official Black Shark Campaigns - the first is Deployment and 2nd is Georgian Oil War I think... there are also 2 more below that. I'm at the 2nd one from top, which makes it Georgian Oil War
power5 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Not a clue, does the mission replay seem like any other time you may have flown the mission? Maybe it didnt record your last try for what ever reason and it was replaying another mission you flew. PhoenixBvo Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 My guess is that the effects you're describing have something to do with randomization of group inclusion. IIRC, the track file only records inputs and randomizer seeds, the rest is deterministic. So if for whatever reason the included enemies are incorrectly chosen for a replay, the sim just applies your recorded inputs to a slightly different scenario but the outcome may be very different. That's also why the training tracks generally don't work after patches. Toadster Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Do you have the HMD Centering Mod installed? It causes Track play back issues when you watch it...
Bushmanni Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I have had some seemingly randomly broken replays sometimes with clean install. To me it seems the replay system still needs some bug hunting. Maybe a complete overhaul. I use Tacview for flight recording and debriefing as it works 100% of the time and I can rewind it and jump forward and generally debrief the mission a lot better. PhoenixBvo Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Exactly, Tacview actually records all the trajectory data, as opposed to the DCS track recording. Clearly visible from the difference in file size, but who cares as long as you have an accurate recording... I think DCS should have an option to record Tacview style.
