Hi

Couple of quick questions.

How do I see the targeting display control panel that’s behind the Cyclic without moving the cyclic? Is there a snap view?

Also I see in some videos that there is a pilot in the BS cockpit, but when I am controlling the BS the cockpit is empty. How do I change that?

Thanx

Look at the key card for the pilot body key command. and as well for the view command to move your head to the left and right.

Hi Cat. I'll check the key card for the pilot body command, but i can move my view left and right and also zoom in. But i am wanting a clear unobstructed view of the panel behind the cyclic without having to move the cyclic, so not sure what moving my head to left and right would do?

It's a 3d cockpit- if you move your head to the left, right, or up (NOT turn your head to the left or right) then you can see around the stick. That is what I do. It's still not a perfect clear or unobstructed view, but by moving my head around, I am able to see the whole panel. I have a track IR, so this is all second nature to me- I look around the stick by physically moving my head to the left or right. You REALLY need to get one if you get a chance. So what Cat is talking about is that you need to find the keyboard commands that move your virtual head left or right (while keeping it pointing in the same direction). I would add that you might also want to find the keyboard command that moves your head up (again, NOT the one the makes you look up).

Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility.

No, he does not need any fancy key commands 8)

I tried the middle mouse button and nothing happens?

However last night i was able to look behind the cyclic by pressing RCtrl+RShift+number key. However i can't get it to work tonight?

I've tried pressing LWindow and F1 first and nothing.

What am i doing wrong?

I think you have to switch to the right mode of mouselook first. There are 3 of them IIRC. Cycle between them using LAlt+C key command.

No doesn't work i am afraid. Maybe because i have TrackIR. So back to the my question above. Whats the key commands for the head movement as LWindow and F1 along with RCtrl+RShift+number key aren't doing anything?

If you have TrackIR, why don't you just move your head to the side and look around the stick as you would do in real life?

That's exactly what I was just wondering.

Yeah i only have TIR3. I think it's the TIR causing the issue. I could get this to work using the RCTRL+RSHIFT+# key the other day i think i had my TIR off at the time. Last night i had my TIR on and wasn't working.

When I use the Custom Snap view key command Lwin+1,2,3,4,5... the view glances at the control panels, but will not stay. I have to hold the key combo. Why is my snap view not working?

I can use the head movement by pressing LAlt+C then hold the middle mouse button.

Not sure what Lwin+F1 does but when I push that, I can not move my view with the mouse any more.

When I press RCtrl+RShift+number key, it works for me. Try not using use LWIN-F1. I don't even know what LWIN-F1 is, never noticed it before.

Nate

Really? LWin-F1 will give the impression of the pilots head skewing in banking turns and give the impression of the pilot tilting his head in the direction of the turn (50% deg)..

Edit: This is obviously for the non head tracking players..

One other question guys. How do i shut the Betty up sometimes. She keeps saying to watch Ekran. I've tried Lshift+Lalt+V and still won't be quiet.

Get used to it, that's why they call her bitching betty. She's there to help you out, I've been saved several times by her reminding me to lower my gear or turn on my anti ice switches. She doesn't talk that often, do you hate her voice so much that you can't stand to hear her speak for three seconds every five minutes? Or are you flying in some condition or way where she speaks more often than that? I think there IS a switch to shut her off, but I don't understand why someone would want to, and I subsequently I don't remember where that switch is.

I think there is a switch in front of the collective, not sure though without having the sim in front of me.

It's a block of 2 buttons and one switch at the base of the center column just to the right of the Inner-Auto-Outer ADF selector.

Left to right it's:

Cease VMU sound

Repeat VMU message

VMU norm/emergency*

*Normal is no voice for many low priority alerts. Emergency is a message for almost all alerts and it's repeated twice.

Couple more quick questions.

What is decent mode? I have tried to descend using the D key and nothing happens. I assume it's some sort of auto pilot landing thing, but can't make it work.

Also what causes my Helo to slip to the left sometimes. My X-52 is all configured so it isn't that. But on the quick start mission for example i trim my helo to slow down and thats all, and suddenly my helo is slipping to the left. My rudder is centred so not sure what causes this?

You don't have to have it in front of you. Just use the flash cockpit trainer.

Heh, didnt have that at work either.

You must engage auto hover, then when you press and hold the descent mode button, the chopper will descend at a safe speed.

Not sure what may cause slipping without a trk file. Maybe wind?
