RogueRunner Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 This is what I see, although now in this test low angle dive gave better performance, something is not quite correct here! [EDIT]Thanx Sobek, was posting while your post appeared.gun.trk With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
159th_Viper Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 OK Gents - before this spirals any more out of control.......:music_whistling: As Sobek said - it's being tweaked. To confirm, I have just tested it with the latest Tester's Build (To HiJack - in SIM Mode :P) and it's a vast improvement, ie it works as it should. Rather than me explaining how it does/should, kindly all wait for the Open-Beta update. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? RogueRunner Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Thanx, regarding the PAC switch. Can it be made that for those with one stage triggers (majority i would guess) it be mapped to the same button as the trigger? Otherwise a toggle switch and not a button you need to hold in?!? With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

T.Goat Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I just want to double check that I'm not supposed to see tracers from the GAU-8? Also, try firing right at the coastline heading out towards the water. Then watch all the ricochets splashing down into the water. If you come out of a dive before doing this, you can actually get ahead of the splashes. Anyone shot themselves down yet? :P
GGTharos Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 You're not supposed to see tracers from the GAU-8; apparently there is little use in loading them with tracer rounds for a number of reasons, including the accuracy of the pipper. And no, but sounds like something your should get an achievement for! :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
RogueRunner Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Sure is possible, but in the hog?!?!?!? http://www.neatorama.com/2010/09/29/the-fighter-pilot-who-shot-himself-down/ With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
GGTharos Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 You can shoot yourself down with ground-ricochets. We have one ex-RAAF pilot on the forum who took a ball round in the wing in this manner on a strafing pass. Respect the posted min-altitude limits for your gun if you're going to overfly the target. BlueRidgeDx Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 With respect to the gun, if an aircraft breaks the 3/9 plane of a hard target after employing on it, the aircraft will likely sustain frag/ricochet damage. aaron886 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I have PAC set to a separate button from my trigger... I have no problem with accuracy if I hold down the PAC button and the gun trigger simultaneously...
Blaze Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I have PAC set to a separate button from my trigger... I have no problem with accuracy if I hold down the PAC button and the gun trigger simultaneously... The 2-stage trigger on the Cougar does the same thing...and I don't notice a difference with PAC on or off. Whippler Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 any idea whats the most efficient angle of dive for a gau run?, or does it depend on what am i shooting at?
GGTharos Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 It depends on what you're shooting at, and where you can start shooting from (in terms of altitude). A moderately steep dive helps - too shallow and your rounds may easily over or under-shoot, too steep and you're spending more time trying to figure out how you'll pull out of that dive instead of gunning your target.
