shu77 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) I thought I would post my first cut Operator Notes onto the board for comment, and in case anyone found them useful. I've found the manuals start up checklist doesn't correspond to the video which gets confusing, and also that I was getting lost around the cockpit a lot so I've tried to address this by pulling the panel images from the manual into a couple pages and also adding reference images to the checklist. I've also added my Brevity notes from the F-15 and the FC2 list of Airfields to the back. I'm planning to add more to this as I continue to learn to add other reference info such as approach charts and frequencies. I'm also thinking I'll add joystick diags so that you can draw in your own set up for reference if its useful to a wider audience than me. Hope this is of help to someone :) Edited October 20, 2010 by shu77 Attachment UPDATED 21OCT10 7 Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools

shu77 Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 OK 21OCT Update. Just a little bit of INFO added to the tail end to start to cover some of the additional steps that come after a training start up. In this instance Stores review and setting the 30MM Cannon round types and a couple new numbers on the front page. I feel a bit guilty in that most of my note taking devolves into following the on screen prompts and enjoying myself and then 30 minutes later thinking 'Heck I was meant to be taking notes' I have a bunch of notes on Take off, and Cannon employment in hand written form that I need to find time to add. I've also started on trying to Identify suitable airfield charts. Annoyingly a number of the FC2 Airfields (Krymsk for example) do not have them on the Web (although I notice it does exist and there are a bunch of Sukhois sitting there on Google Maps) which means having to create them from scratch and make them consistent with the other charts that you can get from AIP. I havent even got as far as identifying the additional airfields 'to the right' in DCSW, or looking for Groom and Vegas charts. I'd be interested in peoples opinions on if and how you would like to see them added. Also should things like TACAN, Tower and ILS channels be consolidated into one table, or spread across these charts? It kind of makes sense to me that if you were wanting to head to Soci you would look up the ICAO chart for it and lift the TACAN channel and ILS details from there, but I guess theres something to be said for having it all on one page, and then having a more basic set of diagrams for the airfields. More to follow. 1 Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
kylania Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Nice work I especially liked the joystick layout with extra explanations. Extremely helpful since I use the same layout for now! Thanks a lot. shu77 Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 Nice work I especially liked the joystick layout with extra explanations. Extremely helpful since I use the same layout for now! Thanks a lot. What I'm thinking is that I will eventually add images of the common joysticks on the market (x52 family, G940, TM WH, Cougar etc) and leave the button functions but blank the allocation boxes so you can write in your own config with Pen etc, but for the moment you get a little bit of what I am doing personally. I have that page printed A3 behind my screen at the moment though so when the man says press the DMS right button, I can look at which one he is talking about :) Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools

kylania Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 What would be really helpful is page 6, split into two and high rez for printing out. I printed that out from the PDF and it was simply too small to see, and splitting it up was too blurry since I had to zoom too much to fill the page. Basically the controller image page with the modes on it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

I printed that out from the PDF and it was simply too small to see, and splitting it up was too blurry since I had to zoom too much to fill the page. Basically the controller image page with the modes on it. This is what I ended up printing for home. Its not awesome quality, I think I'm going to end up redoing the image at some point, but I'm spending the time I have free on the airfield diagrams at the moment. However it does happen to be what you were asking about, so I thought I would PDF and post.x52 layout.pdf Edited October 22, 2010 by shu77 Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
shu77 Posted October 22, 2010 Author Posted October 22, 2010 OK First Chart for comment, the numbers are not all accurate, but I wanted to play with the design while I ate lunch, can anyone see anything missing before I start to do the rest? Its designed to be printed A5 size, and I will be revisiting the image quality.
